Yes, absolutely pain can make a person angry. It would be abnormal if you

didn't feel anger. The life you had planned, worked and hoped for has been

drastically changed. We each grieve for this loss. The old you, or what you

probably think of as the real you is gone.

Your life will never be the same, in just the same way it would be if a

family member died, or any major catastrophy occurs. Your old life is dead.

Now you have to find a way to build a new life, and and that might feel

impossible right now.

Yes, it's okay to be angry about your loss, but eventually you'll find a way

to live with the changes. Will you still feel sad, or angry from time to

time? Yes, the trick is to find a way not to become bitter.

Check with your family doctor about seeling a counselor to help you work

through your grief and make a new plan. There is alot of information about

the stages of grief, ie denial, anger, bargaining, acceptance are some of

them. You can look up these stages online if you wish. Just type in chronic

pain + grief in your favorite search engine, such as google, yahoo, or

ask.com.

Tell your doctor how angry and hopeless you feel, what your pain levels are

like and how severely limited you are. Write this down before your

appointment and give it to your doctor. Make it short and easy to read.

Sometimes it's hard to remember everything you want to say. Have the nurse

make a copy and put the original in your chart.

If you don't have a family doctor, get one immediately. Ask around and see

who has a kind, caring doctor.

Good luck

Have you ever seen a two year old throw a tantrum and then be OK. Just get in

another room or with someone you love or will understand and say, I am so P
