well...one thing that could help with the sinus issues is to do sinus rinses. My asthma seems to be most often triggered by sinus issues and once we recognized that factor, we factored in a sinus rinse and salt water gargles to soothe the throat. I use a squeeze bottle thats made by Neil Med...you can get it at Walgreens for under 15.00. I find that easier than the neti pot as far as technique goes.

Second...have you actually been allergy tested? If not, insist on getting tested. You may need something stronger than an over the counter allergy med. Another thing to keep in mind too is that for many people, the decongestant part of allergy meds can also be a trigger. I can take mucinex but I cant take the Mucinex D b/c that aggravates my asthma. I dont know if you are taking the Claritin D or not...but just thought Id throw that in.

You also may need to change up some of your meds...there is a lot of trial and error in getting the right combination of meds sometimes. Again, maybe youve been changing up meds too..you really didnt say so Im just throwing that out there too.

Theres also the possibility that what is going on with your lungs is something other than asthma. Your doc may be trying to rule out suspicions with the CAT scan. Its natural to be nervous about tests and stuff...but, if you dont go through with it, you may never find out whats going on...or you may do the tests and still not have any definitive answers other than you know what it isnt. If you are nervous about a reaction to the iodine injection, ask if you can take a benadryl just before the procedure just in case you have a reaction...im pretty sure that wont interfere with the results of the CAT scan.
