Guest guest
I decided to sort through my library of books the other day and throw out any that are more than 10 years old since I'm very allergic to dust mites. Well this entailed opening the books up to see the dates. By evening I was into a pretty bad asthma flare. Was just on the verge of going to the er when finally the extra puffs of xopenex and qvar plus singulair and magnesium started to take effect. I don't know when I'm going to learn. I've done this to myself so many times. I decide to go on a cleaning binge to help prevent the asthma attacks and end up bringing one on. Back to the subject of old books. I had few that I didn't want to let go of so I looked up if there is any way to kill the mites in the books. What I found is if you take the book and put it in a plastic bag and place in freezer overnight it should kill the dust mites. If anyone has tried this or thinks this would not work please post. Yet another thing that I used to be able to enjoy that I've had to give up due to the asthma, add it to the list: collecting and reading old books, drinking alcohol, drinking soda, eating ice cream, sitting by a fire, etc. Ok, enough negativity. Focus on the positive: I'm here and I'm breathing somewhat normally today. Asthma does teach us to appreciate the things we all take for granted doesn't it?
