Guest guest
Hi everyone, Concerning keeping our meds secret... I have not dealt with this very well. I am use to be open with my friends and family members about certain things b/c I look at it as a way to teach them. I don't tell my brother or his girlfriend b/c I know them well enough to know they definitely won't get it and are quick to judge to kind of people... (I tell my family who knows what I take not to tell them also) But I use my judgment in who I tell of those close to me and perhaps it will bite me in the butt one of these days. I guess I will learn the hard way then... But, Even if I wanted to keep it a secret, it feels awful, like the people most important in my life " won't really know me " . And I am very sensitive to meds. It's hard to hide it when I'm taking them b/c I'm -just not there- like I normally am. They subside the pain somewhat, thankfully, but they make me spacey, slower, clumsier and it feels obvious. If I don't say something I'm afraid of being seen as ditsy (i am blonde) or WORSE I'm afraid they may think I'm actually on street narcotics. So, what do you do? Does anyway else struggle with this? The meds don't make me high but I am one to get the side-afffects from them. Just over the weekend my boyfriends family made comment about my pupils being dialated. I don't know if that's a side affect from the meds or not but I have noticed they are very large these days. I just told them that's the way they are... <sigh> Thoughts on this anyone? I don't know if that's a side affect from the meds or not but I have noticed they are very large these days. I just told them that's the way they are>> Hi I've had this happen too....I tell ppl the same thing....they've always been bigger than normal (and in reality they have been slightly bigger througout my life, but they are much more dialated since being on meds) My concern with the meds and keeping them secret is that I'm a childcare giver...I'm a live in nanny. The family knows I'm on the medications now, but they did not know when they hired me...when I'm taking care of someone's children, am I obligated to tell them about the meds? I mean if it's long term care and if I'm driving the kids. I've never been told not to drive, but when driving other's kids, do you think I should tell them before hand? If I do tell them, how do I explain to them that I need them for pain and that the meds are working so much at easing the pain that they rarely affect me in ways such as feeling 'high' etc.? How do I explain 7 years of chronic pain to them in 5 minutes? Any advice welcome here!! Thanks! nne

Guest guest
Hey, Let sleeping dogs lie. I think there is no way to explain in a short period of time such a complex subject. I am so sick of hearing stupid people stating their stupid opinons We know we are sick and we know what we need for pain. Praise God when we can get help. It' no body else business!! Guest guest
Hello, Actually, I think pain meds would actually make your pupils smaller? Maybe I am wrong but I heard this someplace. That people strung out on opiates have pin-point pupils. Caitlin
Guest guest
Don't know? Mine are always large for some reason... (more so when I take paid meds) H. Guest guest
No No No not at all Caitlin!! another example of internet mis-communication . I am of the school of thought that if I can't poke a little fun at my meds and issues, I would probably end up in a pretty white jacket!! ) I also realize that things can be taken wrong in this format, so I always opt for thinking the person meant no harm till proven therwise Blessings, lori on 6/23/05 6:53 PM, Caitlin Kennedy at caitlink69@... wrote: > Ohhh, sorry, did not mean to offend anyone by saying that...just what I heard > from someone else. Just depends on the day ;-) However, now that I'm on teh duragesic, I have noticed my pupils are smaller more of the time than they use to be....when I was on tramadol or percocet wtih the muscle relaxers, my pupils were huge! nne
