Guest guest
>The show made me really upset for some reason and made me feel >shamed once again that I am a pain patient and take pills. > Hi First we have to remember that this was an entertainment program. Surgeon's don't insert morphine pumps into just anyone. They are usually a last resort. The gentleman might not have been using any therapies other than medication prior to the intervention. Maybe now he can afford physical therpay treatment or other therapy now that he has been on the show. How much was he paid for his story? Who knows because we aren't going to get the " rest of the story. " I have not had any problems with my any pharmacists. I felt very selfconscious about taking psychiatric medications when they were first prescribed many years ago. I have found it exasperating though when a doctor sees my Bipolar Disorder diagnosis he/she latches onto that immediately. I twisted my ankle and thought it might be broken about 2 years ago. The ER doctor was reading my chart as he walked into the examination room and said " Oh!! Bipolar Disorder...well then " My husband and I looked at each other because we didn't know whether to laugh or cry. His entire diagnosis became based on Bipolar Disorder. He immediately used a different tone of voice as if he were talking to a very young person, or a very stupid one. He was, and no doubt still is an ass. ly, people will have opinions. If your pharmacist is blatantly rude then take your business to a different pharmacy. If it is simply one employee being rude then talk to the supervisor. Don't make a scene, just go the the supervisor or owner and state your case. Chose one pharmacy and stick with them so they can get to know you. Be friendly and very polite. Don't forget the pharmacist might give you an odd look simply because she is tired and having a bad day. I understand how easy it is to feel ashamed about any chronic illness, since I have Bipolar Disorder and several problems that cause chronic pain. We just want to be normal. Why don't you turn on a comedy instead of that intervention program. The endorphins you body produces when you laugh will do you alot of good and are guilt free. BTW a narcotic is a narcotic. Ask your doctor any questions you have about changing from one to another. Don't ever go off them cold turkey without medical advice and guidance. Don't go off antihypertensives, antidepressants, antipsychotics, antianxiety, antiseizure medicines and many others cold turkey either. No one gets addicted to Neurontin, but if you stop taking it abruptly you can become very sick. There are many many drugs that must be discontinued (weaned) very slowly.
