Great pictures. So it is cool over there?

Coolendel trip

Tristan really enjoyed throwing rocks into the river, and of course Mum didn't do it at all. It was a very fun and adventurous weekend.

A few months ago, I had my first flat tire when no one was there to help. I had a blow out on a rural area of I95. Once again, no one stopped, so here I am a fat older person who changed my own tire. At least 50 cars passed me. Chivalry is dead!

Re: Coolendel trip

Jamy,

Shame on every one of them!!!

I used to work for Mosquito Control. My partner and I were out working one day, driving between sites and spotted an obviously pregnant woman on the shoulder of the road. She'd gotten the car stuck in the sand and was on her knees trying to dig out the back tires with her hands.

We stopped, Steve went to the back of the truck to get shovels and I went to go talk to her.. She was very frightened of us.. not knowing who we were or what we were up to. I talked to her a bit and said that she could sit in her car and rest while we dug.. It was somewhere over 90 that day, no wind and very muggy. Oh, I got her a glass of ice water, too.. We carried five gallon jugs of wash water on the trucks and I carried a gallon jug with ice water....

After a few minutes she relaxed... we got her car dug out and it still took both of us pushing with her in the car on the gas, gently... until we could get the car out.... She said that dozens of vehicles had passed her and no one stopped. The road was well traveled but it was not a very populated area and the side of the road where she'd gotten stuck was dotted with all kinds of swamps and puddles with dirt roads and trails all over. NOT a good place for a woman alone, not to mention a pregnant one.

Even though she was afraid of a stranger stopping she was also afraid of the heat and being stuck there with no water.

My partner and I felt great for helping her out.. even though we nearly died of the heat (full gear, long sleeve shirts, heavy jeans, hip waders and big ole boots... in the sun, heat... not good.. but safer for us, with tools, then that poor momma to be - bare handed and alone.

Wow ,

I must have missed this post somehow, sorry. That is terrible what you went through. I am just waiting for dh to write to the current affairs show, I am not sure if he has done it yet, he has been busy. I can't afford to sue or anything but we want that towy suspended or something, disciplined at least. I am still not sure where this will take us but it is going to cost us nearly $3000 dollars to fix the problem with the car. Argh.

Re: Coolendel trip

Nail 'em good Pam! I was stranded on the side of the road and 20 below F at midnight on a rural highway. The officer couldn't take me to the police station because he was on a 'dead body run' so didn't have time, but he'd had the time to pull me over and confiscate my car!

He gave me a choice, after taking my keys and locking me out of the car. I could stand next to the car and wait for the tow truck. He didn't know when it would be showing up and would not tell me the name of the company - or I could walk.

I'm supposed to stand on the side of the road at that temperature and wait for any ole tow truck to show up and get in? or walk 3/4 of a mile to the nearest gas station? All because he was 'too busy on a dead body run' to see me to safety.

The sad part is that I was too stupid to know that I could have sued the cop and the city for what he'd done.

Don't let them get away with it! They can't leave you stranded in life threatening situations! I don't care what country you're in or what the circumstances are!

It is winter here right now. Can you believe it when the car broke down I was left on the side of the road with baby Jarod and two 60 year olds because the tow truck driver didn't want to wait for our ride home. It was 3am in the morning and it was zero degrees. Now we are all sick and taking action against the company who did this to us.

How sweet of you, you deserve a medal for that. There is not many people who will stop on the side of the road these days to help someone out.

Pam,

Try not to let them get away with it... they seem to do it over and over again.. it's just not right.
