Guest guest
OH ....I have the very same story...but with a different outcome....and it doesn't involve Austin....when Trey was 4 and in pre-school (the exact one Austin is in now with the same Teacher), one of the topics for the week was how to call 911. It was never explained WHEN to call 911, just HOW. So one Saturday I'm busy doing Mom things (laundry, dishes, etc.) and Trey gets the cordless phone, calls 911 and when the 911 Operator answered he hung up (I guess he wasn't expecting a person to answer and it scared him). Trey then hides the phone under my pillow and I never hear the thing ring when the Dispatcher called back. I get online (I have dial up) and when the Dispatcher tried to call a second time, she got a busy signal....so with regards to our safety and health she dispatches EVERY EMS person in the county....(keep in mind here that I have a very LARGE German Shepherd..) Trey is outside playing with his cars when I hear the dog start barking....I look out the window and see 2 fire trucks, a rescue squad, ambulance, and 2 deputy sherriffs in my drive-way...the first one stopped and asked Trey what was wrong and he simply replied, " I think my Mommy wants to talk to you. " and continues to play... That same deputy screeches into my drive-way and proceeds to get out of the car before it was completely stopped, the dog runs up on him and the Deputy MACES the dog...(luckily only around the collar and the mace will come back to haunt him!) By this time I see cars in my drive way and go out on the porch to see what the *heck* is going on....and that's when I get told that someone had called 911 hung up and they couldn't call back. The deputy cancels the 2 rescue squads, ambulance and tells the local volunteer fire dept. they are not needed. He also proceeds to talk to Trey about WHEN to call 911 and gives Trey a toy badge and all is well (you'd think that right? WRONG!) While the Deputy is talking to Trey the dog (Sunny is her name), brushes up against his pants. Deputy thinks nothing of it but dog slobber and tries to brush it off. I held on to Sunny's collar when he left so she wouldn't try to bite his tires or get hit. A few minutes later, I rub my eye and it is immediately ON FIRE!!!! (I wasn't present to the macing of the dog....and had no clue that she had been maced) I called poison control trying to figure out why my eye is burning an even bigger hole in my head.....luckily the Dispatcher's number is on the caller ID and I called them to see if the Deputy had returned to the station and it just so happened he had.....and he was on fire as well! Seems that the Deputy was a dipper of snuff and when he left he put in a pinch with the same hand he had used to brush off the " slobber " on his pants....which was the mace (or pepper spray) he used on Sunny and his mouth was burning! I can happily say that Trey has NEVER called 911 again...... Sorry so long but hopefully you had a good laugh! Guess What? This morning I was laying in bed and picked up the phone next to my bed. I hear him babbling , then I told him to hang up the phone and said I DID THAT! Guess what? dialed 911! The Sheriff's department called back and said is everything all right? He said it was ok and he said I was trying to tell him to go get Mommy. was trying to hang up the phone. A few minutes later guess who shows up? To see if everything is all right The Carmel Police! He is a rip!!! Then my husband said after the police came, they are probably saying sure he does not look special needs!!!! mom to 12, 10, 7 and 5 mDs

Guest guest
Oh, dear! Molly knocked the phone off the hook one time and, in the process of hanging it back up, I inadvertently hit the speed dial button to call 911! Of course, they immediately called back to check on us. I first had to figure out what had happened and then I had to explain! What a hoot! Actually, they DO teach Deaf children who cannot speak to dial 911 and then lay the phone down, so someone will actually come. Some of you whose children are either non-verbal or whose vocabulary is not yet large enough to tell someone what type of emergency is going on might consider that as a something to teach your kids, so they can get help in an emergency.
