Guest guest
Ethel was whipping those nurses and tech's into shape when I got there. I think she made the arrangements to have the order written before the surgery in case she had a flare-up.

Guest guest
I'm not sure how bad her fibro was before the surgery. I know it took her a little while yesterday morning to convince the nurses that her pain was from the fibro and not the surgery itself. And, it took her a long time to convince the nurses that Jackie was in distress with her breathing. So yesterday wasn't the greatest day for either of them. Guest guest
I think all of the conversations here about the fibro flaring up right after surgery has helped the new people just getting surgery be better prepared before going in. Knowing what can happen gives them a chance to talk with the surgeons and doctors before surgery and get the orders written for the medications. Guest guest
I think that is great because if I had know I would have asked more questions I guess I never thought a flare would get that bad . Guest guest
Dear Amy, I have had three surgeries in the past 16 months, being a month post op from the last surgery. I have had lupus and fibro flares with each surgery... although my flares have been mild to moderate.. whereas some of the gals have had severe flares.. Anything traumatic to your body, surgery, serious illness, severe emotional distress, increased daily stresses.. can all trigger a flare.. Just have your surgeries knowing in advance that you will probably go into a mild to severe flare depending on how you react to stresses.. and make sure the surgeon is aware that you have fibromyalgia so you will given appropriate pain medication.. Guest guest
Thanks Amy and WELCOME HOME ETHEL !!! Maybe Jackie can get home soon Ethel & Jackie Good morning everyone! Ethel sent an E-mail last night that she is home. She got home late yesterday afternoon and was up sending E-mail at 2:30 in the morning. She couldn't sleep so was considering taking something for it. The doctors decided to keep Jackie in the hospital to make sure her breathing was okay before sending her home. Guest guest
Thanks ! This is good advice for anyone with fibro or lupus. I don't have either of those but Ethel does have fibro and her's flared on her the day after surgery. She was fortunate that they gave her medication for it without too much of a fight.
