Guest guest
No, it would be listed as Free T3 or Free triiodithyronine. Many doctors do not want to run this test, but it is vitally important to have it. I got mine done on my own, with no doctor involved, and the Free T4, Free T3, and TSH were the only ones I had done on this. For the first time, as of a week ago, I knew for the first time in 10 yrs what my thyroid was doing and what effect my medication was having on my thyroid. Guest guest
Three options here: First, if you think your doctor is receptive to having it run, try there first, and tell the reasons why you want this done. After all, you're paying for this. Second, if you can't get satisfaction there, make an appointment with another doctor, but make sure he/she is willing to run those particular tests, as you're making the appointment. Third, you can opt to have your own done. I had mine done thru HealthCheckUSA.com, by using their online service and having the actual blood draw done at my local hospital (who is contracted with them, I would suppose; they have different places all over the US where you can get your blood drawn). Go in there and look around. You get to pick your own tests, and it is a much less expensive way to go about this. Re: my test results > > So how do I go about getting the test done? Guest guest
Hi , So that's what it's called! Thyroiditus... I used to get pnuemonia every year, then I "got smart??" and got the shot for it,now instead of going to my lungs it goes to my thyroid! Very painful.I take Collodial Silver for mine. Shirley Re: Re: my test results Hi Everyone, Hope you've had a nice weekend. Well I had a question. My throat is starting to bother me more and more. It hurts when I swallow anything. I've been feeling really hot and very very tired. It kinda feels like a fish bone is stuck in my throat but ten times worse. Now becouse of that its starting to give me a headache. I called my insurance compzny(Tricare Prime), and they said they would look at the goiter in my neck again. Should I mention the free t3 and t4 tests tommorow? They also had me taking tylenol with codiene for the pain, but it makes me feel more tired than what I already am. I hope they can let me know something tommorow, Thanks for Listening,

Guest guest
, aren't you the one seeing an oncologist? Why are you on codeine? t3 and 4 tests are just blood tests. Guest guest
No thats not me. I'm the one with the goiter in my neck. They gave me tylenol with codiene becouse they said thats all they could do until I go see a specialist on the 28th.I was asking about the t3 and t4 tests I was told to ask for it the next time I went to the dr. But my problem is, the pain is getting worse and worse in my throat so I have to go see someone at my clinic tommorow to see if they can ask the specialist to move my appt up from the 28th. If this email sounds confusing, thats becouse I'm confused, lol. Re: my test results> > > >> > So how do I go about getting the test done? I need to know as the> > medication hasn't help. Guest guest
Yes, get the frees tested.. both the T3 and the T4... how are your tonsils? I had trouble with mine for a while... if you can, take a flashlight and a mirror and take a peek in there and see if anything is lodged... I have a lot of scar tissue on my tonsils and occasionally get stuff that pierces that dead tissue and gets stuck.. Guest guest
Yeah, look, you spell your name wrong. ROTFL. I can't imagine that the codeine helps a goiter hurting and I have a very large one. Are you sure it is not strep throat? Who gave you the Tylenol with codeine? Now I am confused. Jamy Re: my test results> > > >> > So how do I go about getting the test done? I need to know as the> > medication hasn't help. Guest guest
As far as relieving inflammation in the thyroid, good old ibuprophen is best. Tylenol is not good for your liver, and codeine may not be good for your thyroid. Ibuprophen is an NSAID (non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug). It's helping mine some, being as I have a touch of thyroiditus right now and goiter, of course. Definitely be courageous about the FREE tests. Guest guest
Yeh, I kind of thought that was a weird drug to treat a swollen thyroid with also! Guest guest
No its not strep. I know for a fact its the goiter thats bothering me, but they gave me the strrep throat and some aspirin for the pain. It feels nothing likie strep. Mine is preety large also, but apparently, they dont have any specialist at my clinic that handle goiters, so they said tylenol is all they can do until my appt on the 28th. Guest guest
After reading everyones post, I'm starting to think my doctors are crazy. I think I'm gonna stop taking the tylenol since it only makes me feel groggy. I'm starting to get alittle upset. I understand they dont handle goiters, but they shouldnt just give you anything either. Well I'll let you guys know what happened at the appt tommorow. I think I'll just call the specialist and see if they can move my appt up. Thanks, Re: Re: my test results Hi Everyone, Hope you've had a nice weekend. Well I had a question. Guest guest
Sorry I have a typo on one of the emails. Guest guest
For the thyroiditus, works good for me. Don't know which is more painful or costly,I just exchanged one for the other. Guest guest
Do you mean that you take the colloidal silver for pneumonia or for the thyroiditis (I spelled it wrong, sorry)? Or are you referring to pneumonitis (which is the same difference, actually!)? Re: Re: my test results Hi Everyone, Hope you've had a nice weekend. Well I had a question. Guest guest
I am Jamy! I was making a joke. I would forget the Tylenol if it were me and take ibuprofen. It works better, but that is me. Guest guest
Oh sorry Jamy. I was asking becouse I thought I mispelled something in my email. Well I've dropped the tylenol becouse I hate how it makes me feel. Re: my test results> > > >> > So how do I go about getting the test done? I need to know as the> > medication hasn't help. Guest guest
It would seem you are already so tired, the codeine would be hard to take. Today you see someone, right? I am curious to see what this is. Re: my test results> > > >> > So how do I go about getting the test done? I need to know as the> > medication hasn't help. Guest guest
Yes I have a 2:30 appt, and my first question is going to be....why did you give me tylenol with codiene for my goiter. I told my mom(who also had one but had hers removed), and she basically said the same thing all of you were saying. I'll let you know what happened, Re: my test results> > > >> > So how do I go about getting the test done? I need to know as the> > medication hasn't help. Guest guest
Sometimes, I have a hoarse throat, but no other symptoms. I couldn't understand for the life of me what was going on, but I was told that it's just another symptom of my thyroid. When I was in our church choir, I had to sit out, because it was so hoarse, I couldn't get a sound out. Tara
Guest guest
Shirley, why do you believe that you exchanged pneumonia for thyroid problems? This interests me.
