Glad to hear that, and I'm too old to be conservative in any place. -- Dave -- Sunday, September 03, 2000 t2 8/98 Glucophage & *anything* laced with Aspartame ICQ 10312009 «» DavOr's daily aphorism: " Freedom defined is freedom denied. Guest guest
I went thru a thing with my back for a long time and they kept saying it was because of my weight and I found out years later it was Fibromylgia and to think all those years it wasn't in my head or my weight . hello Hi, My name is and I had RNY 2 years ago and I have reached my goal weight, although I would like to lose another 20 pounds. I also have went back to school to become a surgical nurse in weightloss surgery. I am currently writing a paper about the discrimination the overweight suffer at the hands of the healthcare profession. Example: You go to the doctor about ailment and without doing anything they say it is just your weight, or you were uncomfortable because your weight wasn't recorded discreetly, the waiting room chairs were small, or they actually have the nerve to talk about your hygiene due to your weight. Anyway what I would greatly appreciate from you all is an email stating yes or no you have suffered discrimination and your sex. If you could email this to me at melanielwilson@... by Friday I would be ever so greatful. Thank you To Subscribe to 's weekly FREE Newsletter send an email to GBCookbook-subscribe@... Guest guest
Hi , I think it's great that you are back in school! I am also a RN and I am in a grad program for my Acute Care NP. here in Philly. I too have an interest in working with surgical weight loss clients and may be doing my preceptorship with my surgeon. I have the surgery 6 mths ago and I am down 103 lbs. I still have another 80 lbs to go, but I should be there by the time my program is completed. I am looking to work in a surgeons' office who performs this GBS as his NP. Exciting stuff hah? Are you currently an RN? Are you in grad school for your NP also? Are you looking to work with a surgeon or in the OR? Good luck to you whatever you choose. Congrats on reaching your goal also. And yes I too have suffered discrimination as a result of my weight. Haven't we all? Although, I don't believe at the hands of the health profession. I have a wonderful internist at HUP .. very compassionate. So I have been fortunate in that regard. Thanks, Kathy hello Hi, My name is and I had RNY 2 years ago and I have reached my goal weight, although I would like to lose another 20 pounds. Guest guest
MELISSA--It's great to hear from you! That's right; you need to stop lurking and tell everyone about yourself! (Gentle urging huh! I said I'd beat you! LOL) Tell ME what it's like to live a block from Times Square... We live clear across the country in downtown Seattle! I'm glad your doc is taking care of your esophagus; let me know what the biopsy's all about! Guest guest
Hey welcome to the group . I am two months post op and I have lost about 35 pounds will know for sure tomorrow . Jump in and post often Hello Hi everyone, My name is and at Ava Lee's gentle urging I've decided to stop lurking! I joined the group a couple of weeks ago, and I am so overwhelmed by the activity -- I can barely keep up with it all! I'm a jazz singer living in NYC; I live a block from Times Square with my wonderful drummer husband of almost 14 years. I have been on every diet imaginable, and kept Weight Watchers in business innumerable times. I've wrestled with weight problems for 30 years, and I want it to stop! My last significant weight loss was 100 lbs on Slim-Fast, but within 3 years I gained it all back and more. I have been so touched, amused, and educated by all the posts I've read, and I thank you all so much for being so open and willing to give so much of yourselves to help others. I do not have my surgery date yet; Dr. Herron at Mt. Sinai is my surgeon and I'm having an RNY. I'm still waiting for the results of my endoscopy -- seems there was some inflammation and a biopsy was necessary. My heart was in my throat during Annee's recent episode; I'm so happy to hear she's home and recovering. I think I've missed how is doing, though -- how is she? Thanks again, and please know you are helping someone who hasn't had the surgery yet to know this is the right path. Guest guest
I know the hypochondriac feeling. I think my family thinks I should be " all better " now. Sometimes I wonder if it is " all in my head " when I am hurting bad and have thing I want to do. I was just officially diagnosed about 3 years ago. It's hell from 1 day to the next for me but onc in a while there is a good day when I can be almost " normal " . I no longer work, could not do medical transcription anymore, too much pain and i was at the top of my field in this area and I even started to lose that. Hang in there. linda
Guest guest
Thank you Joy for the information, I guess ive really had it all through my childhood. Ive had clubbed fingers for as long as I can remember. But when i was 26 years old I had to loose a lobe of my left lung due to reoccuring infections that left scar tissue that would not heal properly. That's when my condition finally was diagnoised as Bronchiectasis. As of today I still have one remaining lung that is still hanging on even though it isnt as great as I wish it was. I was a smoker for 28 years and have been almost smoke free for a mo. But I still deal with infections most bronchitisis and sometimes pnuemonia. I take augmentin which I thankfully have not built a resistance against. I am very sensitive to alot of antibiotics. Sulfa drugs and I dont get along at all. And, I dont take anti inflamatories like predisione very well at all. I am on four different medications that i take on a regular basis. Albuterol 2 puffs 4 times daily. flovent 2puffs twice daily foradil 1 capsule every 12 hrs. Duo neb liquid nebules 1 vial up to 4 times a day. I also have a vest which works like a charm, I am thankful that i havent really had a major infection that has put me in the hospital. I do my best to stay healthy and free of any infection. Thanks to all of you for being here to give advice and support to the newbies like me and if you wish to send me any information you have my blessing and consent thanks nyzki
