, a little hint here for more " comfort " , less pain in pricking your

fingers - do it a little to the side instead of right on the tip of your

finger where all the nerve endings are. It's almost painless most of the

time then.

i think that it hurts more on the side - but that is just me - my fingers

are calloused from all the sticks - does anyone kno if gluocophage can make

you feel sick and give you tummy problems? I have been up all night ith

distress and (forgive me here) having to really go to the bathroom - this

morning i am just feeling sick and out of sorts - am taking 1000 mgs of it

day and night along ith prandan - i also have to explain the one of the

keys on board is not cooperating - sorry it is the uu double u - that is

hat i get for the letting the 13 yr old have a pepsi near my computer :(

oh dear - my sugars are high this morning - nearly 300 fasting - am aiting

to hear from dr about blood tests and if he ants to start insulin --

- The glucophage can give you loose bowels. When I went off the

glucophage and on insulin, I noticed the mild queasy stomach and loose bowel

movements I'd been having for a long time were gone. My endocrinologist said

it wasn't the insulin causing the change; it was getting off the glucophage

- seems it's one of the side effects.

I resisted the idea of going on insulin, but had no choice. Now I'm glad

they put me on insulin. I feel better and it's not the burden I had feared.

It's rather amazing to me to see the insulin keep the bg under control when

my pills were not working.

Hope you feel better soon. - Pat

today is the worst - can't leave the house - also my bladder is out of

control - something that happens when my sugars are high - the glucophage

is supposed to be one of the best meds for diabetes - it keeps you nice and

level without side effects - but I have to go to the bank and afraid to

leave the house - I have Depends - here I am only 50 and all this is going

on - oh well, life could be worse - I eat sugar I pay big time - my stomach

is queasy also - thing is that i have been taking this for months - and the

side effects are just now showing up when i added the pranden to the dose

-- does anyone else have loss of bladder control when their sugars are high?

thanks for answering the question Pat :)

hugs

I just started Glucophage last week. The doctor told me it could cause

diarrhea. I looked it up at www.rxlist.com and it also can cause nausea

and gas. I had one bad bout of diarrhea. I also have IBS and have

lived this way for years so I didn't worry about it. I was suffering

from nausea when I started but it seemed to go away. I am on so much

meds that Glucophage causes diarrhea and Celebrex for pain caused

constipation so obviously you can never use me as an example. But yes,

upset tummy is common with most of these meds. And you are on two

together. I am very sorry that your bg is still so high. Mine was 311

in the doctor's office and that's when he put me on Glucophage. But

that wasn't fasting bg. My fasting bg was 243. I just made diet Jello.

I am trying!!! I wish you good luck.
