That's great, Brande. Many of our members are new and an information group

like ours must be patient in reposting old answers over again. Your

inquisitiveness will help lots of others get answers too. Thanks.

Because the shock on the heel is transmitted right up the spine to the neck

and can aggravate chiari symptoms. It's best to wear a good pair of

cushioned sneakers when walking.

Thanks for all the info on wearing air cushioned shoes and that you shouldn't

go barefoot. Boy am I in trouble (I live in florida) & I can't stand to wear

shoes - only wear them when I go out I am constantly barefoot. My mom just

brought me over a pair of Nike air walks cause I have been having so many

problems with my legs and feet. I put them on (tee, hee) and walked to the

corner store I almost didn't make it back home my feet went numb first and

then my legs went into major spasms. Thanks for posting this again as I am

fairly new. Geez wonder how long it will take me to get used to this but

heck it will make me a few inches taller since I am so short LOL

Hi ,

If the Nike airs have that effect on you then why try to get used

to them? Your body is telling you that it doesn't like them.

I dont wear shoes at home or in the yard, Only when stepping out *G*

I have never liked wearing shoes and go barefoot as much as possible. It helped

growing up in Florida:) I haven't noticed that this has caused problems. But

then, I am writing this email in the middle of a thunderstorm:)

many risks with her life:)

Hi,

I should think whatever feels right... if you feel better barefoot, go barefoot. For years I could only wear moccasins, the stiff soles of regular shoes would trip me up. Wasted a lot of money on a pair of orthopedic shoes, and other kinds... now I must have high-top shoes, not too heavy or bulky soled, but with a definite sole... almost opposite of what I needed at first! I found a pair with VELCRO fastenings! Joy! Since I don't walk a lot I am not as concerned with the cushioned support, now. So you need to shop around taking your needs and preferences into consideration along with the experience and suggestions found here. Remember the reasons why these shoes are recommended, and adapt to your self!

Hi all,

For sandles I wear Birkenstocks... with all that cork they seem to absorb

lots of jarring.

Also, at a mall here there is a new Walking Store... and they have some

very nice looking shoes with lots of cush that could be worn with pantyhose

when you wear a dress. (No, guys... sorry this is for the women.) The

store also sells Birkenstocks and also has walking sticks... some are

pretty fancy... some fold up... really nice for folks who loose their

balance easy.

Be ware that these shoes are probably gonna cost between $60 and $120

though.
