Meenie, I was a Loan officer at a credit union (not working any more) but

will tell you there is no comparison between the Kia and Corolla. The

Corolla is the best I had one and wished I had never sold it. I drove it 5

years with hardly any maintenance. I only sold it because my dh and son were

to big for it. and we could not travel in it because they were cramed.

However I am also looking at another new car and I am most likely getting

another Corolla you just can't go wrong and the resale value it great. As a

matter of fact the new corollas are the size the orignal Camarys were they

call the Corolla the Baby Camary. I drove mine 5 yrs and it had 100,000 miles

and I still got back over half of what I paid and was thrilled. Nice cars!!!!

Good Luck. Shelia :)

You know Meenie you might inquire on the Honda Accord LX not EX but LX. Mike

and I were surprised that it ran about the same price and a bigger car,

however Mike felt the Corolla had more pep to it. LOL a man thing I guess.

anyway just a thought. They don't give those cars away do they????? Hugs

Meenie -

Of the two you mentioned, I would go with the Corolla. The Sephia does not

have a long enough track record in the States for my taste. (remember the

Yugo?) I currently have a 1994 Honda Civic. I love it, I have never had

even one day's trouble with it, and it now has about 64k miles. I had a 1997

Nissan Sentra, and my brother still has his 1987 Sentra (his has over 200k

miles on it!). My Sentra had 175k miles on it when I traded it, and I had

never had to do anything other than routine maintenance. I think both the

Civic and the Sentra are in a similar price range to the Corolla. Good luck!

I'd buy a Volkswagen Jetta if I bought anything. I wouldn't drive anything

else. (I know, sounds snobby, but I've put hundreds of thousands of miles on

my VWs and can't say a single bad thing about 'em).

Thanks, Shelia!

I agree about the Kia... I just test drove one and it wasn't as nice as the

Corolla. It was nice and roomy but the materials were definately not as

nice.

We plan to test drive a Honda Civic and then decide on either that or the

Corolla.

Right now the Corolla is in the lead :)

Meenie,

Go with the Corolla. We are on our second. The first one which was an 84

which we gave to our church last year when we bought a 96. It is still one

the road and running well. Absolutely no problems with the 96 yet. Not

even a seconds.

Corollas are the best cars we have. If I didn't need the mini-van because

of my scooter I would be driving one too.

Doesn't anyone on this list buy American cars?!

Don't trot out that old Japanese engineering being superior, blah, blah,

blah. They stole and copied all our ideas. The worst car I ever had was a

Datsun. The best I ever had was a Cutlass Supreme, 1977. In fact, I would

seriously consider buying another " new " '77 one if I could locate one.

Have also had good experiences with Pontiacs and more recently, a Buick

Regal which my wife purchased. On the other hand, Plymouth's suck and

Fords aren't much better. I must appropriately add...YMMV.
