Guest guest
Carol, I don't get the chance to write on here often, but read it everyday. My mom has LBD and we have been on a very curvy roller coaster lately. I have been her sister, keeping her money, so on and so on. Saturday night she would not sleep for anything. She continued that trend on Sunday and I am thinking, just please go to sleep for a just a little bit. My husband has been very understanding and calm with her, but he even got kinda frustarted with all she was saying and doing Saturday night. She moved all the furniture in her room, packed her clothes, knotted her yarn into a big rats nest. So needless to say we are not going anywhere this evening as there is not anyone to babysit mom. I can get a sitter for the kids, but one for my 68 y/o mom is another story. So it is me, the kids, my computer and mom tonight. Al has to work his p/t job - pizza delivery. I must say I love this board and enjoy reading all the post. I don't feel so alone after that and know that there are others who truly do understand. Well Happy New Year and thanks for listening. etta in Indiana adhd5464 wrote: Easy Mac, macaroni and cheese isn't all that easy. i thought it came in it's own bowl and was a 60 second wonder, not so! I thought it was something little kids could make quickly, but there is the potential for messes and everything. Millie is not enthused about putting her teeth in, so we are back to dentureless banquets. her taster is way off and things taste spicy to her, so we are looking for bland, blah cuisine. with traffic so slow, I started in on the August 2000 archives. It was tempting to respond, just to keep me alive. I realize most of those LO's have passed, but it made for top-notch lewy body fare. I suspect they took Emma's grandmother to the hospital. I hope they don't get talked into things that only frustrates Grandma more. She'll be wiped out if they admitted her. I know she is expected to stay 24/7 if grandma is admitted. What a New year's Eve! I firmly believe Millie will opt out of Dick Ball Drop again this year. Millie tried to eat the napkins this morning, and now is trying to nibble on a ballpoint pen. She can see the food, but isn't connecting the dots very well. Last week she was sharing her coffee with dogs. She would drink some, and then offer them some. My dogs do not care for coffee, so it is just an exercise in good breeding to share.(Hers, not theirs!) Millie says she is in pain, but morphine is the drug of choice by the hockey puck doctor. she won't be fed a spoonful of pudding with the drops in it, but isn't real handy with the spoonful of pudding either. If it is not one thing, it is another. I haven't even been next door to change into clothes yet today. With Millie not having her sea legs just yet, i feel obligated to be right by her as she walks. I wish she would sit in her recliner more, it would be good for her whole body to rest on different muscles and skin. My party plans for this evening all centered around Ron and Emma, and I think Emma might not be able to come out to play right now. Ron, lots of pressure to keep this party rocking! Is anyone throwing a pity party tonight? I'll get dressed if i know the site will be rockin'. Catch you later this evening, all! Guest guest
etta, Just knowing someone is out there is worth it all, most of the time. My husband is probably already asleep with four of our dogs next door. It has been rare that I have been able to use his computer all day. Millie doesn't have anything but a chair and bed that move in her room. her chest of drawers was built in. the clothes thing is so tiring because after she gets them all out on her bed, she is frustrated to get them back in her closet. She hangs blouses on pants hangers, and pants on blouse hangers, and she shuffles everything so she can't find anything. I am no organizational wizard, so trying to find a time to get in their and thin with her not knowing it was impossible, until today. she had no idea I was making so many trips in and out of her room to sort all of her clothes. Of course, in the " Land of Little Blue Pills " , it may take her several days to realize she has sorted stuff. Doctors ought to realize that sometimes a caregiver needs to be able to shut down the energizer bully. I didn't intentionally overdose her, but I did intend to slow her down enough so she would crash. She couldn't have gone on indefinitely without paying for it somewhere else along the way. Sorry you get to be here with this group, I am sorry i am here, too, but it's New Year's Eve, and if we're here, we might as well be here! So, ring out the old year! maybe Ron or Emma from Michigan will show up. they have to be having as much fun as we are! Guest guest
Carol, I'm here, at least for the moment! I managed to escape and do 2 good things. I went bra shopping (I REALLY needed new ones), and I went and had a few drinks at the restaurant my boyfriend works at. I am sleepy and I am tipsy. We decided to let Grandma do it her way for at least one more day. She still has the fight in her to argue about eating and showering so she's doing ok for now. So even if they wake me at 3am now at least I won't be 100% aware of it. I'm gonna watch DVDs in bed and try to relax for just a few minutes. I'll probably be asleep before midnight but I'm ok with that at the moment. ;-) HAPPY 2008!!! TO A NEW BEGINNING!!! Guest guest
Carol, You sure didn't need to get dressed for us. But no big party I can see anyway, unless it starts at 4 AM.. Only got another hour or so and it will be here in MI. Hope you are catching some ZZZZZZZzzzz's and Millie stays sleeping. Happy New Year. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. Slow traffic day! Guest guest
Just saw your post! Glad you are okay. Glad you got out some as well. Keep us informed.
