I prefer the one without the counter because the one with a counter which my local drugstore supplied spurts the medication out the top as well as the bottom unless I use a spacer. Guest guest Posted August 1, 2010 Report Share Posted August 1, 2010 That's awful, Jo Ann. Wood smoke is definitely a trigger for me. Changing that propellant has been a struggle for many asthmatics. It's hard to believe that those little puffs of meds were contributing to warming up the entire planet. It's more likely that very little of the propellant went into the atmosphere because it's being inhaled into our lungs and probably was/is absorbed by the capillaries there. I'd like to also caution folks that it's not especially wise in this hot weather to leave an inhaler in the car. Ive never had that problem with my ventolin..and sometimes (although here, not often) it will sit for weeks without being touched. You may have gotten a defective one too. Guys just be really really careful if you order meds online (companies approved by insurances are probably fine). I read an article, unfortunately a long time ago, where people were not getting what they thought they were getting. The meds looked the same, but some of them were diluted forms and the people werent getting as much of the med. If its a reputable place and all, thats cool...just please be careful ordering your meds online. :-) As with anything else...always always do your homework! I get my inhalers, Advair, and a couple other meds through them. I do not use any other online company. As for keeping an inhaler in the car, NO, NO, NO if the weather is hot or cold where you live!!! The label on my ProAir says store between 59 to 77F (15 to 25C). Most places right now are either too hot or too cold for storing them in the car. I carry mine in my purse. It comes out the top on other inhalers too but more so with the ventolin, maybe because the ventolin has a strong spurt and others do not. Also the mist which comes out the top hits me in the eye and causes irritation unless I close my eyes. I have purchased it at two different local pharmacies several times and it happens with all of the prescriptions. I just use the spacer with ventolin. The only online pharmacy I use is Inhouse. Not nearly as convenient as an inhaler, but more effective and no propellants at all. Could it be a technique issue if youve experienced it with other inhalers too? A spacer would make a difference with technique issues, and technically, they recommend using a spacer with the newer propellants anyway.. Thats just really wierd...
