Guest guest
Reminder: FWDing. as is -RE: [Attachment(s) from gerard@... included below] Great news! The House version of the Respectful Language Bill, which has already passed the House, has been posted for hearing in the Senate Health and Human Services Committee! We now have the best chance ever of getting the bill voted out of the Senate HHS Committee to the Senate to get voted on and then it would go to the Governor. Please come show your support for the bill! Many of you have attended in the past and we definitely need you to come back. Thank you so much. I'm sure there are many more who haven't made it to a hearing but support the bill. Well, if you've ever thought about doing something to show you support for the bill this is the best time possible. We would like to pack the hearing room with supporters so that the committee can see how important this issue is to all of us in Texas. Trust me when I say it does make a difference! The more people there the better! I don't believe testimony will be taken and if it is there will be plenty there to provide that so all you would have to do is sign a witness card that says you support the bill and sit back and watch history be made. Filling out a witness card is very easy to do and there will be many who will be happy to help. I don't want to be doom and gloom but the fact is that if we can't get the bill voted out of the Senate HH & S Committee the bill will die again and we will have to wait two more years for the chance to get the bill passed into law. There is no doubt this is our best chance. Hearing details: Health & Human Services Committee 9:00, Thursday, May 12, 2011 Hearing Room E1.016 The hearing room is easy to find. It's on the first floor of the capitol extension building just past the cafeteria on the right. To get there go into the main capitol building to the elevators. Go down to E1. Walk down the corridor past the cafeteria and when you get to open air rotunda the hearing room will be on the immediate right. Parking can be found at the Capitol Visitor Parking Garage located at 13th St and San Jacinto. The first two hours of parking is free and very cheap after that. We expect the bill to be one of the first heard in committee so it shouldn't take long. I've attached a map to find the parking garage and of the capitol extension building. If you have any questions feel free to call before or the day of. Please attend the hearing if you can. We really need to show our support for this bill if we want to get it passed. It's time for Texas to get this bill passed. We need to get this done now.
