Guest guest
Hi Dena- I understand the intelligence of a Shepherd. We had a white Shepherd. He would do the same as you mentioned except that he would lift the latch of the chain link gate and let himself out. He used his nose to push it up and he was free. What was the name of your Shepherd? Ours was Rocky. Freezing?? In California? Our thermometer currently shows 25 and we think it's nice outside. Wanna come out and play? :-)) We are expecting an inch or so of snow through the night and 3-5 inches more tomorrow. Great hearing from you Dena. Sending along huge hugs- Sandie Des Moines, IA dad, Merle, passed away from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 mum, Jo, (MIL) passed away from LBD 4-29-07, age 78 -- Merry Christmas > > > > > > Merry Christmas Everyone! > > > > > > I have not been able to post much lately. Guest guest
Sandie, His name was Patron. (As in the tequila) We did not name him. We got him at 9 months from Germany and was named there. We just never changed it. Once a man made a very wrong moved and jumped into our backyard and had a hard time getting out. Patron helped him back over the fence. We have a 4' block wall, then a 4' slope with orange trees on it, then a 6' block wall. He left part of his pants here. Patron carried it around most of the day. It was scary, but mostly just got funny. Nothing like that has every happened again. The pool man has to make a weekly special appointment to get in. And the bug man too. He will be missed for a very long time. And Yes, I am freezing here as well. I would most likely turn into a statue there. I just can not even go there. I was so cold last night. I met with friends and driving home I got cramps in my chest and arms from slivering so much. Seriously, I just could not do it. You guys are all much tougher than I. And no, I do not want to go out and play. Using the Internet to just think about it makes me cold. I am a wimp! Enjoy some hot cocoa from me. Lots of Hugs!! Guest guest
Dena- A very distinguished name your dog had. Well, powerful and interesting...we have used the word tequila as " tokillya " ... and it seems Patron was very protective of his property. Our white Shepherd was the same. He had been taught to " watch him " ...just saying the words put Rocky on alert. We have a couple situations where Rocky chased the mailman away when we had him out running around...he loved to run. We ended up with a post card in our file at the post office over those times. Substitute mail carriers had delivered it to us by mistake a couple times. The Shepherd breed does seem territorial yet so loving and compassionate as well. Getting psyched to go out and move some snow as I write this. It's still falling though. It's is so pretty...picturesque. I may not seem very convincing for you though. Thanks so much for replying. Oh, and what puppies do you have now? What breed are they? Take care and stay warm. I have arctic outer wear that I gear up in before heading out in the snow...well, to move the snow that is. Otherwise nothing a winter coat, scarf, and some gloves can't take care of. Many hugs- Sandie -- Merry Christmas > > > > > > > > Merry Christmas Everyone! > > > > > > > > I have not been able to post much lately. I > have > > a > > > > new > > > > full time job. Guest guest
Hi Sandie They are German Shepherds too. We have one more male. His name is Cody and he has his schutzhund 1 title. He was one of the youngest dog to ever get that title. He is the father to the pups. Cora is the mother. Try not to freeze. It is trying to rain here today I think. Anyway, getting some clouds in.
