Guest guest
Lori, I don't think it's unreasonable at all to ask for an increase,I would also do alittle research on the internet to get some info or stats on what is an usual dosage. I believe I had a couple places where it stated that an average dose for chronic pain was 200 to 400. I have always had a high tolerance to pain med so it really depends on the person. I know people who take a Tylenol and it puts them out and of course others take extremely high dosages and it doesn't bother them. So you have to find out what is best for you. I have found the best help with the patch but I am not pain free by any means. I have a herniated disc in my neck c6 and in L5 and DDD in L4. I would have to say that the severest of my pain is in my lower back...it does not go down my legs...but I also have chronic muscle aches and pain in my neck and shoulders. It's the kind of pain that drives me crazy...constant, achy and often causes pain to shoot down my arms. It causes my hands to be stiff and painful and I get pins and needles...like it's going to sleep but the pain doesn't stop. I don't know if that is neuropathy or not. I know the doctor had me on neurontin for a long time but it didn't help much so I stopped. I also very strongly believe that alot of my pain comes from carrying emotional pain for a very long time. I don't believe you can suffer a traumatic childhood, not deal with it and not have the weight of it bare down on your shoulders and neck after too long. I'm not saying it's " in my head " but I've read a few studies that claim that ritualistic and constant childhood abuse, especially incest can actually change a persons nervous system....that they stay on " high alert " for way to long and it seriously affects their health. As far as the nausea, I glad...(sorry don't mean I want anyone else going through it) to hear that it is not unusual. I have been very worried about it...it just didn't seem right. What are ginger tablets...where do you get them? And maybe it is associated with constipation...I mean for those of us on meds that's a given. It usually feel like a terrible case of indigestion that just gets worse and isn't helped by regular antacids. But anyway...I think 50 is low and you could get much better relief on a higher dosage as long as you don't have any bad side effects. I also bring some of the posts from these groups to my doctor to let him know how other people are doing on meds. He seems to respect that. Good luck and if you need anything more...anyone please ask.
