Consider the following as you live your life today. What personal meaning does it have for you as a parent?

"Memory is something in the past you are reflecting on. Knowledge is something you believe is going to help you in the future."

"Knowledge is not reflection. Knowledge is a future-oriented process. It is all about 'What is this going to do for me in the future? When? How? With whom? For what purpose? That is why memory must be constructed for it to become knowledge."

- Dr. Gutstein

Sink or Swim: Why It's Easier to Not

Pay Attention

by Dr le Sheely

We are good to the point that we are often unaware that we are processing contextual information, considering possibilities, choosing a decision and moving forward with it. This very complex process also includes the thousands of readjustments we make during the decision-making process. These readjustments become the norm as we make not only large decisions, such as career choices, but also those that are less complicated, such as driving to the supermarket.

Move your decision making process to the conscious forefront of your mind and you will find that the it is no longer quick and efficient. Especially when you assume the guiding relationship, you will slow down and convert the energy of the experiences you construct into the development of functions, not skills. Careful planning that leads to experience based knowledge is the backbone of RDIâ„¢.

My Journey to Consulting

by Fantilli

Autism is a funny thing. Hearing that your child has autism devastates you, and then puts you on a mission. I would think about the future and just start to cry, as life for

RDI Mom and Certified Consultant, Fantilli

my son would be so uncertain. But, in that time, I also began to focus. My mission: have him ready to start school in two years. He was two years and eight months old.

I was introduced to RDI about a year and a half after the diagnosis. We went to a four day parent training session and Dr. Gutstein just amazed and inspired my husband and me. Everything seemed clear as to what we needed to do. I had the best consultant ever - Palasti. She was inspiring, motivating, kind and thoughtful. She helped our family so much. I can't thank her enough.
