Just curious,

has anyone on Neurontin experienced any weight gain? I am taking

400 mg three times a day.

,

I am taking 2400mg of Neurontin

a day and I have also gained a lot of weight. I don't know if it

is from that, or if I am eating too much!! I'll be interested to

hear other responses.

Did this begin after you started taking Neurontin? It can cause water

retention especially in the middle! How long have you been taking

Neurontin? It usually goes away after you have been taking it awhile.

Also, if I understand this right, you are more likely to have this kind of

bloating at the lower and middle range of dosage. For some reason, it

tends to go away at the higher doses. I had the belly bloating for several

months when I first started taking it, but it went away. I don't know if

it was because of the higher dosage (I take 4800 mg a day) or because I had

adjusted to it.

BTW, there is a mail list for people taking Neurontin, to exchange info and

experiences with it. People with all kinds of disorders arising in the CNS

take it. To subscribe to Neurontin Email List, contact

NEURONTIN-L-request@....

The list is run by Marilyn K, a nurse with CFS. She also has a lot of info

about Neurontin on her website. Here is the URL to start with:

Hope this is of some value.

me too , im at 2400 mg neurontin a day , and have gained about 25 pounds now

, more than ive ever weighed in my life ! my constant feeling of nausea is

much less present now , and i get the full urge to eat more often ,........

then indulge myself . while i may never know , i think decompresion helped

the nausea , neurotin the crazy constant burning , tingling and numb cycle in

my left extremitys .

Thank goodness the farmers market opens next door at the end of the month ,

my summer veggie indulgance is almost here :-) ,(and maybe i wont need to hit

the thrift shops for new clothes ).

northern calif grows just about everything to perfection ......yum !

I think too , I need to get more exercise in , been slacking on the dancing ,

( and nursing a sprained ankle along ) ......a good 15 pounds gained during

this 2 month phase of less activitiy .......its almost good as new now ...so

time to start doing those attempts at aerobic exercise .

im happy with this trade off personally , neurontin has completely stoped

one sort of constant pain in my life , .....ive been indulging in lots of

extra calories , able to eat without nausea being a factor as well , and

gotten healthy ( i was told i was 20 lbs underweight 2 years ago in the

wellness accessment study i went too ) .

now to sort out the other pain issues , ........sarah in paradise

I am on 3300 mg nuerontin a day. Since Nov 97 I have

gained 130 pounds.

I retain alot of fluid also. My doctor put me on Catapres patches

on tuesday for high blood pressure, mine has always been normal til now.

I have been in alot of pain again this week. I will be having gastric

bypass on July 8 so, I will hopefully loose alot of weight.

I am on 1600mg of neurontin a day and yes I have put on weight and how.

The neurontin helps the terrible pain along with MSContin twice a day so

I sort of muddle through the days. The neurontin is the best that I have

been on so far and I have been through a lot of different meds trying to

find something to help. Regards Ann in Brisbane Australia

I have been on Neurontin for quite a while now and I take 2000mg per day. None

of

it sends me for a loop. I wish it would, especiallly the night time dose, it

would be lovely just to go to sleep for the night without waking up gagging and

chocking. I guess It could be interacting with something else that you are on

but

according to my neuro and pharmist neurontin has very few reactions with other

drugs I have found this so as I am on 9 other drugs including morphine sulphate.

Hi ,

When I first began taking neurontin this happened to me...my doctor

changed the way I was taking it and had me take all of it at bedtime. This

helped a great deal.

I now take 400mg 3 times a day and 600mg at bedtime.

You might ask your doctor about taking all 600mg at bedtime.

Hugs,

Judy Marie
