I was " depressed " just because they couldn't figure out what was wrong with me, this was before they finally figured out it was Chiari. I spoke with a doctor where I work about the " depression " label, he said they do that when all other test results haven't panned out to anything. Makes me wanna scream. My internist gave me a written depression test to take and actually took my husband into another room to question him about me. They're the ones who are nuts. See I told you this makes me crazy. Anyway, hang in there, Sheila ------------------------------------------------------------------------

We've been through 2 neurologists and are visting a third next tuesday. My mom has parkinson's, and her neurologist also sent her to see a psychiatrist because she was feeling " down " . She kept trying to tell him that it was the new medication he had her on. He said he didn't think so, made the appointment for her, and that was that. Mom took herself off the new medication, went back to her old medication and her good ol' self, and canceled the appointment with that shrink! Guest guest
Suzanne, even on the other side of the world neurologists and neurosurgeons seem to have the same attitude. I spent the night in the er observation unit last night and my daughter had to practically throw a paddy to get someone to listen..They sure did then. They put a canula in and fed me some drug that has to be administered at the rate of 1mg per minute and it finally knocked me out. My daughter said that the sleep aponea buzzer kept going off and I certainly got some action. I see the neuro on Friday to get the results of my MRI so please cross your fingers he is in a good mood and I get some answers. Enough grumps from me LOL Ann Brisbane Australia Suzanne Chisum wrote: > Hi all, > > I was out neurologist shopping again today.... had an appointment with one > who is 34... and so I had hoped that the apathy (lack of interest) that I > have seen in most neurologists had not yet set in. > > He was friendly. Guest guest
Well, we went to see the new neurologist yesterday.........I have never wanted to strike a person as much as I wanted to strike him!!! I am still fuming, and will try to stay on track here and not get off into rantings and ravings~ I have had trouble getting people to take me seriously in the past, as I am 5 foot even, 105lbs, and look about ten years younger than my true age. However, with my very large husband standing behind me, they usually come around!! Not this doc. He all but called me stupid!!! There I was, armed with all sorts of information and questions, and I got so angry with him I couldn't even speak. I just lost it, and knew that we were not going to get anywhere. The topic of our disagreement: Rick's syrinx. Dr. , the nsg, had told us that the syrinx collapsed. The Neurologist said I must have misunderstood, that just couldn't happen, and there it was plain as day on the MRI. I insisted that that was what was said, but Rick didn't remember it. So this Neurologist says to Rick.....(I still can't believe he had the nerve!), " See, you understand. She just doesn't get it. " ARRRRGH! I became pretty ineffective after that, since I am cursed (?) with being a female and when I get that mad, well, the tears start flowing. Made me madder, but I just left it at that and concluded the session. The good news: I'm NOT crazy! Based on a recommendation from another patient and member here, I collected all of Rick's medical records from every doctor, and hospital. When I was going over Dr. 's notes, there it was in black and white: The syrinx has collapsed. So! My question is, does that really happen? I'm feeling alot more confident in Dr. right now than anyone else, and would like to believe what HE says. The & *!@@$ neurologist didn't have the pre-op MRI's, so I'm thinking he didn't have anything to compare it to. I know that the syrinx would not DISAPPEAR. One more question, (I know, this is getting long!) the post-op MRI report said, and I quote: " No evidence of abnormal fluid collections. " Wouldn't a syrinx be and " abnormal fluid collection? " Still fuming..... Wendi--New Mexico ------------------------------------------------------------------------
