I use the Helios during the day when I'm moving around. I just got the Marathon about 6 months ago...it allows me to leave the house longer because it holds more liquid oxygen. No batteries....all I do is fill it up with oxygen when it runs low. What do the batteries do??

Hi Peggy my ONE has only one battery, my company said they could order a extra at $300. That was last September. Do You use yours 24/7? I only use mine out of the house as I still have my big unit (R2D2) and the home fill small tanks as backup. Hi Diane, I'm switching to liquid oxygen shortly - my 02 provider is finding me a Marathon. How heavy is it? What do you use at home? They were talking about a combination concentrator / filler unit for me. Leannedianequinlan@... wrote: I use the Helios during the day when I'm moving around. I use mine 24/7, Why not. I have one of the tall tanks for backup. This one is so quite. I DO NOT miss R2D2. He was a little annoying. Look on line and you'll see the battery sell for 275. I'm calling them in the AM. Thanks, Peggy

Hi Peggy and ,

I called my oxygen company today and they had never heard of Inogen! They are a nationwide company. Apria. This is Louisville, a good size city. Are these things so unique or new????

Any ideas on what I can do now?

Hugs,

Joyce

Diane,

My problem with the Helios was this. When I left home, it only lasted 2-3 hours. Then I did not have back up. Also, sometimes I would be ready to go somewhere and the connection would freeze up. At that time they were providing tanks for back up. Then they told me I could have one or the other, so I had to go back to tanks.

Hugs,

I think it's 8 pounds when it's full....the one I had before that was half the size...so it seemed a lot heavier when I first got it, but I'm used to it now.

I use the concentrator only at night when I go to bed. But, I use the Helios all day. I have to fill it up about twice a day....and I'm on 4 liters. The Marathon has pulse up to 4 liters and continuous up to 6 liters. Doesn't make any noise...the only thing you hear is the pulse when I inhale. You need a special nasal cannula with the Helios...can't use a regular one. It's got 2 tubes...one is inside the other...somehow one senses when you are taking a breath...pretty much looks like a regular nasal cannula.

Hope this info helps......

I also gotta say that I know the technique to tell if you have clubbed fingers was a good one....but it did make me laugh cause I was trying to put my fingers together all kinda ways....I had never heard anyone describe that. But, my husband looked at me when I had my laptop on reading all the emails and asked me what the heck I was doing!!! Looks like I wasn't the only knucklehead trying to do that!! Would've been pretty funny watching all of us putting our fingers together!!!!!

Hugs,

Diane

Yeah, they told me the same thing....but, now with the marathon, you can leave the house for a lot longer. I was only able to go about 3 hours, too. Ask them about it. Like I said, it's heavier...but when I go shopping, I put it in the cart. And, as time goes on, it gets lighter. I do like it...it gives me more freedom than I had with the first Helios I had.

If anyone here has a Helios and has a problem with it freezing when you are filling it up...I have a solution to that. I found out that after it is full, before you remove it from the tank, pull the lever down once and quickly let it go. It breaks up the ice that forms inside....mine used to freeze all the time and it wouldn't pulse after I filled it up. But, that trick works really well and I don't have any more problems.

Joyce, go to your search engine and type in Inogen and you'll find information on the machine.

Leanne may be able to tell you more than me about it. I just saw a post from her she is getting

ready to go to liquid oxygen. Don't know why. We can ask her tonight at the phone chat. God Bless
