leanne:

i have noticed that ever since i have been a zipperhead, and ever since

symptoms have beeen bad, that my deodarant does not work as well. actually i

use my husbands speed stick!! it is stronger than my soft-n-dry. it is wierd

because i don't really sweat, but i get real hot. could also be the change

since i am 41 years old. i think this chiari thing changes the way you sweat

or something. i'm not even going to mention it to my nsg, he already thinks

i'm a hypochondriac,!! ha

If you don't mind, I'm going to butt in on this. I think that everyone needs

to keep in mind that the pressure/compression that goes on with Chiari

(especially if it has been many years) - can greatly affect the

pituitary/thyroid glands. I think Dolores Strahan will back me up on this.

(Hi Dolores!) (my daughter and the one with Chiari) has thyroid

problems along with everything else. I'm not saying that a thyroid problem is

the cause of the hot/sweaty/yucky feeling, but it is something to be aware of.

Kathy,

The breathing problem...does it feel like your breathing is so shallow and slow

that if you don't concentrate on breathing, you may stop? This is what I get.

It doesn't happen often, but it worries me sometimes.

Hi,

I have just this past year been getting " hot flashes " which I LIKE as I am always cold! I don't like the night sweats though. I went to my doctor and he tested for menopause and thyroid, both were normal. Very frustrating as some of the aspects are very miserable, but it seems to be another effect of this " fun " condition.

Leanne,

I have vertigo attacks (inner ear not chiari related) and yes, the heat come

with it! I find that if I splash a little cold water on my face or use a cold

compress, it can difuse the whole attack. Don't know if that will work for you,

but try it! I often wonder how much of the naseau is related to the dizziness

and how much is related to the heat.......it often goes away if I can get cooled

down!
