Guest guest
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results . Albert Einstein ...Maybe it's time we change the legislation!!"The way you do anything is the way you do everything!"Sent from my iPhone4 Forwarding as is -RE: [Attachment(s) from Debby Valdez included below] We are going to need some real grassroots advocacy this coming session. Last week the Attorney General of Texas spoke at the Heritage Foundation in Washington D.C. He stated that Medicaid was the biggest expense our state has, meaning that it is consuming the largest amount of state funds needed for other things like Education (rightfully so), transportation, technology, etc. Cut backs are going to be inevitable, and therefore for those receiving long term care services are most likely going to see additional cuts to the Medicaid Waiver Programs. For those who are still on those long waiting list for services, the wait is also going to get longer. Parents, family members, guardians, advocates, professionals are going to need to ban together in order to protect all the Medicaid Benefits. I hope that you all will stay in tune, and plan to attend the Hearing at the Capitol on July 31st, the Texas Legislators will need to hear your stories. More jobs will be lost in this process if the Governor gets his way. Rights of people with disabilities to live in their communities will also be violated, and many elderly and disabled people may be forced into institutions due to the lack of services. This is the future of our disabled and elderly loved ones and our own families. I hope that everyone will be ready to stand up and take a stand, whether you support the Health Care Law or not, please consider those who are defenseless and will be without everyone advocating on their behalf. Information will be coming forward on what you can do if you are unable to attend the hearing, we need to be contacting our State Senators and Representatives to Consider the most vulnerable Texans now and in the future. Read the letter from Governor - evidently he believes he can speak on behalf of every resident of Texas. These politicians get into office and think they own the people they serve and speak for everyone whether it is in their best interest or not. I am not encouraging anyone to support the Health Care law Reform, that is an individual choice. The information I am sharing is for advocacy and support to our most vulnerable population. One day we will become older, and or disabled too. God Bless Debby L.
