Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I have had the vest since 2002. My original prescription was for a treatment time of 10 minutes at frequency of 8-10 with pressure of 5, cough and clear secretions, and then set frequency at 14 for 10-minutes. This did not work well for me since I am very thin. I changed the frequency to 12, pressure of 4 for 2 10-minute sessions. This past year I have changed the frequency to 11, pressure of 4 for 2 10-minute sessions. I do my first treatment when I get up in the morning before eating breakfast and the second one in the evening before eating dinner. I use 2 mL Acetylcysteine 10% (generic Mucomyst) along with 3 mL of Xopenex in nebulizer. Due to a heart arrhythmia, I cannot use Albuterol. I called Hill-Rom last week and spoke with a nurse clinician about the settings. She told me to use the settings most comfortable for me and suggested that since I was so thin that I may want to wear a light weight sweat shirt while doing the treatment to cushion my chest. I hope this helps. Norma
