Guest guest
Jamy, A thought for you.. can you split your thyroid pills so that you can take them several times a day? For example to do quarter tabs and make sure that you do the soy at least an hour before or after you do the thyroid.. and take the thyroid sublingually so that it goes directly into the blood stream rather than via the intestinal tract and liver..... That would give you a more steady stream of thyroid and expose less of the hormone at any given time to the malabsorption issues with the soy... I have big time sensitivity to how and when I take my thyroid and right now I have WAY fewer highs and lows by taking it every three hours.. yes, I know I'm the extreme, and I have no thyroid so I'm completely dependent on the supplements, but I've noticed a marked difference in taking it regularly throughout the day..... .... it might help... I know that we are all different and we each strive to seek our own balance.. I hope that you are able to find yours... Keep us posted, okay? Guest guest
I will do the numbers point by point, so my fogged brain can follow or say or whatever. Anyway... 1. No, he was quite familiar with it. Even started explaining about the protein binding and blocking issues. Since he was so aware of the problem, why didn't he tell me that because I will be ingesting soy, the med levels may not be stable? That he may have to raise the level of meds I am on to compensate? 2. Soy is an issue, but I was unable to lose weight after 8 months any other way than this fast. I was 115 overweight 3. This is the first DR that is allowing me to track free t3 for me to see. So far not enough data. It does seem that the soy blocks the conversion from the data I have read. 4. I have dawn syndrome in the morning but aside from that all insulin and glucose levels and reactions are fine. 5. 6. 7. He is also the director of the weight loss clinic. The catch 22 is stopping this diet while still so low in calories will be really hard on my body 8. I was on low carb, high protein diet of six small meals a day. No improvement in weight loss because my thyroid is still way off. I was also working out with a trainer 7 days a week, Jamy Patient Advocate/Board Member American Thyroid PatientsWebsite: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/california_thyroid_groups/ Opinions Please Some of you know my story from the about.com some don't know me, so I will do a quick history. Guest guest
Yes I do. Though the Insurance available is not perfect, I find it better than the alternative. My best friend from AK had a cancerous incident which showed up 2 months after she let her insurance lapse. She had a lumpectomy, chemo and radiation. The medical bills are over 50k. All of that is elective, so she is responsible for the bills. We did get the DR to write part of it off as well as the surgeon. The 50 is what is left! Guest guest
Why is it that any treatment for cancer is "elective" surgery? This does not make sense. Re: Opinions Please Sounds like communism. Guest guest
All cancer treatment is considered elective unless you are at end stages and then treated as an emergency. Chemo, radiation and a lumpectomy are not considered an emergency. Don't ask me how that works, it makes no sense to me. I worked with her and many hospitals, etc. This is how the law sees things. That is why she is responsible for the bills and they don't have to treat her if she has no insurance or can't pay in full as she goes.
