Guest guest
Thank you for the responses. If NYCCAT or any other CAT organization is working to advocate for LCAT's to be credentialed by insurance companies please note this the response from Aetna. I hope that my experience can help the CAT community to advocate for more recognition as a qualified mental health care providers. Unlike the people who have responded on the list serve, I did not received an email but a direct phone call. The Aetna representative asked called my Institute asking if I worked under any other license since they cannot credential me under the LCAT. I returned the representatives phone call and was told the same thing and, " We've been going through this a lot recently. " When I pressed the Aetna representative on why they do not credential the LCAT she did not know since she was not in the credentialing department. I asked to speak to someone else in the credentialing department and was told, " There is no point, we do not credential your license. " I pressed her for further contact information and was told, " I will do some internal research and get back to you. " Suffice to say, I am frustrated and do not expect a phone call back. Thank you for the responses and if anyone has any other insight it is much appreciated. It feels that despite the licensing of our profession/ " legitimizing " we are still not recognized as qualified mental health care providers.
