Guest guest
I have taken prilosec for many years. I have post-nasal drip. The only time I get it, is, when my allergies are acting up or when I have a sinus infection., or a regular cold, or flu. I don't disagree with your Dr. That is the first time I heard that, that is very interesting. Good to know. I always take my prilosec the minute I get up, or, after I hit the bathroom. Lol. And sometimes I will take one in the early evening especially if I have eaten something before I go to bed. I have gurd, and a hiatal hernia, also food allergies, and regular allergies, whatever all of those are? Just kidding. So I think prilosec is a wonder drug. BUT! I have to take B-12 shots, now, started about six months, ago for B-12 deficiencey. Now, one explanation is that after all of the years of prilosec use that my b-12 absorption is compromised because of the prilosec doing its job. Another one is because I am the worst eater in the world, hate to cook anymore. Too much junk. Or I had stomach surgery when I was in my early thirties. So take your pick. BUT! I still like my prilosec. Believe me it is a lifesaver. Thanks. www.willothewispl@.... He thinks it's reflux, I wasn't so convinced, since I have post-nasal drip, and since I started taking prilosec, my nighttime reflux has disappeared. He thinks it still might be reflux... apparently, I might still be getting just enough reflux to stimulate a parasympathetic nerve response in the sinuses that stimulate mucus production, so I still have the drip-drip-drip nonsense. What he suggested, which might be useful to others here, is that they've found that many people get better results from prilosec if they take it 30-60 minutes before breakfast, rather than at bedtime, or rather than with a meal. He went into some details about the hormones that are released by eating are necessary for proper absorption of the medication.. . that's about when my eyes glazed over. :)I just switched the timing of my dose today, so I don't know if it works for me yet, but I thought I'd put it out there. Guest guest
Oh, I sure agree it's a lifesaver! That feeling of being awoken in the middle of the night, drowning in a mouthful of stomach acid... blech. It's a wonder drug, all right! And if it can make this cough stop... that would be TRULY amazing and wonderful. I have taken prilosec for many years. I have post-nasal drip. Guest guest
Yes, I have woken in the middle in the night, after, I have rolled off of my large pillow. That is one of the worst feelings in the world, you are coughing, and choking, and your throat is burning. I do everything I can to avoid that. Because, sometimes I do upchuck, so far I have made it to the bathroom to upchuck. Don't always get that sick, but is is just awful, when this happens in the middle of the night.
