If you're in or around NYC, you won't want to miss it!Rubin, Judith (Saturday, 7/21 - 2:00 PM) - Breakthrough: Art, Analysis & the Liberation of the Creative Spirit“Breakthrough†is a film about the experiences of eight gifted and articulate sculptors, painters, musicians, and writers in psychoanalytic therapy. We hear how their problems created barriers in both their work and their lives, leading them to seek treatment. We see their artwork before, during and after therapy, as they experience the “breakthrough†that allows them finally to live and create more freely than ever before. As they eloquently share their painful but liberating journeys, we witness their resilience and joy in achieving genuine creative freedom. Their stories are beautiful, moving, and exhilarating.http://www.cvent.com/events/art-and-psyche-in-the-city-conference/custom-18-26c0ef5efaa349c78b7e24514805b743.aspx

Authentic Movement: Faces of god. Are We Therapists or Priests? In the Creative Arts Therapy field, the nonverbal language of art, dance, drama, music, and poetry help the individual bridge the unconscious to the conscious. Through the expressive modalities of art and dance, we will focus on how Authentic Movement and psychoaesthetics can help to explore archetypal presence in the therapeutic space and how art and dance can help facilitate the archetypal force that speaks to the collective unconscious. Art & Psyche in the City provides a full conference registration (Thursday, July 19- Sunday, July 22) as well as one day registration.
