I had to share this. We are putting insulation in the attic of the house where

Adam and his mom live. The ladder was leading up to the attic and I was

standing up there talking to while he was working. Adam was trying to get

onto the ladder with no luck - mom was holding him back. All of a sudden he

said " Mama, I wanna go in there. " That is the biggest sentence he ever said. I

guess if you want something bad enough, you can find the words. Needless to

say, I let him climb the ladder with me to look up in the attic. He thought

that was really cool.

By the way, Adam's picture has been posted for over a week as child of the

month on our website and no one has emailed to say how absolutely adoreable he

is. ;-) Except Kristy - thank you.

This might sound very dumb of me but I did not even know we had a child of the

month. Is it the mds web site or the imdsa web site. I am sorry this is all

pretty new to me. I check the e-mails but I rarely go to the website, sorry. I

will start having to look more often.

It's imdsa.com. I was just kidding. You don't have to be sorry. I don't go to

the website very often myself, even though I should.

You should check our website frequently! We are constantly updating it because

we are constantly doing something new!!!!

IMDSA has a Feature Child of the Month. This is a special thing we do for

IMDSA members. If you look on our home page www.imdsa.com you will see Adam's

pictures along with Donna's wonderful comments on what IMDSA has meant to her

and her family.

If you would like to become a member of IMDSA, not only will you have the

opportunity to have your child as a Feature Child of the Month, you will

receive:

IMDSA's Information packet full of MDS information and inspirations

IMDSA's quarterly newsletter MOSAIC WORLD full of MDS information, stories,

news events and tips on OT, ST and education. (we have a new feature in this

month's issue!!! we now are making book reviews to tell others about books we

recommend)

Access to online Ask the Expert meetings where you have the opportunity to

speak to the leading MDS experts

Discounts to IMDSA's MDS Research & Awareness Conference (next one in 2009!)

(I feel like I am leaving something out! LOL If I am, Donna will let you

know!)

Other services we offer to everyone is, of course, this great support group,

but also we offer our Family Connect program where we can connect you with

families according to where you live, the age of your child and any medical

conditions your child may have. We are also about to launch a research matching

program where we can match our members with researchers according to what kind

of research our members are interested in participating in.

Anyway..if you wish to be a member, just go to our website www.imdsa.com and

click on our membership link. Membership is only $25 a year and not only will we

have the opportunity to better serve you, your donation will enable IMDSA to

reach others world wide!

If you have any questions, let us know!

Donna

That is so wonderful!!!!!!!!!! Way to go Adam!!!!!! Knowing how much he has

struggled with words I know what a huge victory this is! I wonder if using

Communicating Partners is the reason for his increase in speech??

I am so thrilled he said all that!!!!!!! Give him a huge hug from me!!

WAY to GO Adam!!!! We are so happy for that little guy - pretty soon he will be

telling grandma what to do, you just wait! I am sure you are absolutely

thrilled. It is just amazing how it all comes in time.

Adam

I must brag!! Adam is going potty and staying dry. He has discovered how much

he likes going standing up and now goes every time and at school too. Just out

of the clear blue sky. Also, another whole sentence - " I want a sandwich please "

and when his mom made it he actually ate it. At his cousin Mia's first birthday

party last Saturday, he actually sat at the little table with the other kids and

at lasagna and garlic bread. He has never done that before. He is usually

running around while the other kids eat. We were all very surprised -

pleasantly. He has now taken to calling his mom Auntie like Skylar (his

cousin) does.

By the way - It is SNOWING in Northwest Indiana. We are looking for 5 or 6

inches by morning.

WHO-HOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations! That is HUGE! Maybe

there's something in the air in the Midwest causing previously stubborn

kids to finally start using the potty! I am SO EXCITED for you guys!
