Guest guest
I have heard many times that nitrous oxide is bad for our kids, I wouldn't take it for myself, but others may have a different view.Since i have drug allergies, when I need something done, I have been given propophol, but I have heard this too is not good for kids with autism. For me, I loved the propophol as you wake up and are only groggy for about ten to fifteen minutes and NO nausea. After that there just was no residual like form other anesthesia where I felt sick and out of it for a whole day. I know they gave my son Versed, and then I don't know what else, but he came out of it very disoriented and vomiting. The people were great, but I think all of us need more insight into what anesthesia is the most effective but least harmful to our kids. Wish someone really knowledgeable would weigh in on this. Guest guest
I don't remember any long term problems, but at that time he was still fairly non-verbal. I think he was five. He had to have the work done as many of his baby teeth had de-mineralized due to the mercury poisoning. Now his permanent teeth have grown in crooked. We need to go back, and he needs braces, but I know Medicaid will only pay for metal ones, so what to do? I don't want him to have ANY metal in his mouth. The versed was rather hilarious. He started laughing and saying really funny things. Watching them take him to the OR was one of the worst moments of my life. Then after he was in recovery and started crying inconsolably and vomiting -- that was worse, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
