If the Commissioner of Mental Health is already permitting unlicensed practitioners, a court proceeding for an injunction compelling him to act properly would add to public opposition, especially if the injunction were granted. The proceeding might also make an impression on the state senators and assemblymen, irrespective of the outcome. There are doubtless able lawyers around who could help. The OMH (Office of Mental Health) is seeking to pass what is called the PERMANENT EXEMPTION law.If this law is passed it could possibly:· Allow bachelors level and unlicensed " clinicians " to work in hospitals in place of licensed and fairly compensated professionals· Decrease the jobs available to us as licensed professionals· Decrease our salaries dramaticallyTo combat this we need to come together as CATs and raise our voice! It is time to be more visible and have our profession get the respect it deserves! We need to move our license in the direction we want!
