Guest guest
Hi - I had my gallbladder removed about 5 years ago. I was able to have the surgery that is done laparascopically through 3 small incisions. I went home the next day and spent about 2 weeks recuperating. For about 3 months afterwards I had a small " stitch in the side " feeling on that side, but it eventually went away. My grandmother had the more extensive surgery done 2 years ago. She had a very bad gallbladder attack and had to have emergency surgery because her duct was blocked. She was 95 at the time. I'd say it took her the better part of 6 months to recuperate fully from the surgery. She'll be 97 in about a week. Neither of us had any complications. Anne Gallstones On Friday my husband had a really bad gallbladder attack. We both thought he was having a heart attack because it mimics the same symptoms. I had to call 911 and they came and took him to the hospital. Anyway he is doing okay although he can hardly eat anything without having some pain about an hour later. They did an ultrasound and the doctor said his gallbladder and the duct running down from it are packed with stones. He will probably have it removed but I have been reading about some people on the net that just do a cleanse of olive oil and lemon juice. Has anybody on this list done this? If so what were your results? Also have any of you had your gallbladder removed and have you had any complications from it. I would love to hear any and all experiences. Thanks in advance, Public website for Diabetes International: http://www.msteri.com/diabetes-info/diabetes_int
Guest guest
I've used an olive oil and lemon juice " Gall Bladder Flush " for years. It originally came from a Chiropractor I was seeing back then. I believe the original source is an Australian Doctor. Anyway, I've never had any problem with my gall bladder. No pain. No diagnosis. When I use the flush, you can see pea-shaped and colored thingees floating in the water. It's not painful. Just stay home 'til everything is cleared out. -- And hold your nose while downing the concoction. The recipe is: At bedtime: 5 oz. Classic Coke 6 oz. virgin olive oil 2 tbsp lemon juice. Stir well and drink quickly. Next morning: 1 10 oz . bottle Citrate of Magnesia. Stay home. Comes through in about 2 hours. According to one copy of the directions, the recipe " flushes the Perkuffer Cells of the liver. They are 'dirty' and solids will precipitate out of the bile to produce stones. " I don't have a source for this quotation. At 07:33 PM 7/23/00 -0400, you wrote: >On Friday my husband had a really bad gallbladder attack. Guest guest
Meni, I remember reading that too but I just can't remember where. Personally, I think I would try most anything to avoid surgery again. Love ya girl! Guest guest
I had my gall bladder removed almost 40 years ago! The bile duct was packed with tiny stones and there was a real chance of damage to my pancreas and to my liver. It was so long ago, that it is pointless to compare procedures with today. If the stones are large they just sit there in the gall bladder. But if they are small, they can travel and can cause all sorts of damage. Don't fool around with olive oil etc. Get the gall bladder out. Make sure the ducts are all clear. That will probably mean being monitored for a few days to make sure that the bile flows freely and is not being obstructed by tiny stones. He does not " need " the gall bladder. And he sure as hell does not need the excruciating pain . Good luck Elka Type2, Glyburide 5mg, chromium, diet, exercise and chocolate
Guest guest
, I had my gallbladder out at Mayo Clinic in 1984. I have had alot of trouble since then with the runs if I eat very much fat. I tried the flush when the website with instructions were listed on here a few months ago. I thought that since it was basically olive oil and lemon juice it could not hurt....WRONG! I had bowel movements of pure blood for a whole day. I haven't tried it again.
Guest guest
Hi, , I can emphasize with you. We went through this last November. My husband had already made made one trip to the emergency room but right after thanksgiving he ended up in the hospital with a severe attack. ( he looked at the Thanksgiving dinner and threw up but it really wasn't that bad. The next night he had severe pains. The hospital doctors tried the less invasive procedure but they eventually had to do the operation the old fashioned way. He was also suffering from pancraeatitis (sp.) and had been diagnosed as a diabetic (much to my surprise when the nurse said that his diabetes was under excellent control--first I'd heard about that) Eight months later he's doing fine--working at a recycling facility where he's on his feet eight hours a day. He's tired when he comes home and sometimes he's laughed at because he drags rather than carries heavy loads but he's doing fine. He also no longer seems to have problems with his blood sugar though the doctor is watching carefully. Modern medicine can be wonderful. Olive oil and lemon juice is only for people with minor problems. My prayers are with you and I hope everything goes well. rachel768@... wrote: > On Friday my husband had a really bad gallbladder attack. Has anybody on this list done this? If so what were your results? >> There is a typical gallbladder attack scenario. It is often a person who ate a fairly high-fat diet. This person's gallbladder is pretty active active, trying to handle the fat. Then the person goes on a low-fat diet, but the gallbladder is still working overtime, out of habit, and it solidifies and plugs the bile duct. As long as the person remains on a low-fat diet, things will seem pretty much okay. But then that person splurges on a high-fat meal, e.g., pizza, and winds up in the ER at 3 a.m. I have heard of that cleanse on the internet too, but will it work for actual gallstones? I'm sure you have read up on lithotripsy? (I haven't.) That's a machine that pulverizes the stones into little grains. But - duh - I think they only use that for kidney stones, so that hopefully they can be eliminated during urination. Susie

If nothing else it sure makes you think about eating the wrong foods that will raise your blood sugars!! I think that since your hubby drinks coffee he probably does not drink water as much. I wonder if that played into it. Meniowl@... type2,dx7/99,low-carbs & water walking (last A1c 5.3)
Guest guest
Dear , I'm relieved your husband was able to have his gallbladder removed by laparoscope. I hope his recovery continues smoothly. When I had my wisdom teeth removed, I saved them. I would like to have them drilled and connected by a little gold chain, hang them on French hooks and wear them as dangly earrings. Maybe something similar for those fascinating gallstones, eh? Susie )
Guest guest
SUSIE! YOU NUT! ROTFLMAO! My Home Nursing teacher in high school had her gallbladder removed and wore the stones encased in some type of acrylic looking pendant hung on a gold chain everyday. We had to hear about her surgery at least once each week. GROSS! I sure was glad when I finished that class. <still giggling> Love you girl!
