An Advanced

Training in the CANY Model of Drama Therapy

April 27 - 29, 2012

Friday, 4/27 â— 5:30 - 9:30pm

Saturday, 4/28 â— 9:30am - 5:30pm

Sunday, 4/29 â— 9:30am - 5:30pm

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

Any person in the categories below who is interested in

using the creative arts as a tool for healing & personal growth

â— Mental Health Professionals (all areas)

â— Performers & Teaching Artists

â— Educators

 

Program Description: 

â— Experience the drama therapy process in action

â— Work on managing complex group dynamics through

therapeutic play

â— Gain practical skills in how to use metaphor to

safely explore trauma & challenging life experiences

â— Understand the value of creative self-expression

within a variety of clinical & educational settings

â— Learn how to structure a complete creative therapy

session from warm-up to closure

â— Participate in drama therapy interventions aimed at

improving client/student relatedness, self-esteem, emotional expression and

self-regulation, spontaneity and the capacity to play a diverse range of life

roles

â— Leave with a comprehensive training manual

reviewing the CANY model of drama therapy

 

This program will be divided into three components:

â— EXPERIENTIAL

You will engage with the CANY model in practical terms,

learning through experiential activities and exercises facilitated by CANY

staff and later by you and your co-participants.

â— THEORETICAL

You will explore the theoretical rationale that lies behind

the CANY model, individual exercises and techniques, learning through

trainer-led presentation and group discussion.

â— SUPERVISORY

You will explore your own experience of facilitating

exercises and techniques with clients as the training process unfolds.  The CANY trainers will guide you

through a weekly supervisory check-in.

Early Registration (until March 27, 2012):  $395

Registration (deadline of April 16, 2012):  $425

Cancellation Policy (prior to April 13):  Fee less $50
