I am also troubled by the announcement of this program. I strongly believe in providing healthcare to the uninsured, especially the unemployed artist who often falls through the cracks. But as an alternative to hiring creative therapists? Especially those who are permit-ready, and have the knowledge and skills to work in that environment. This would be a perfect apprenticeship opportunity which is desperately needed in our field. There are countless numbers of us who are dedicated, hard-working and caring and don't yet have our LCATs. Painting a mural in the hallways can be a wonderful "art-as-therapy" project with higher-functioning patients. I do understand that there are always bureaucratic issues with these kinds of things, but it seems that if an artist exchange program can be developed with a hospital, then equally an apprentice program might be

established. Especially in hospitals that are teaching institutions.
