Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who went to the meeting. It is difficult for those of us who live in what is really upstate NY to come to mud-week meetings. The minutes are impressive. The issue of "1. Role of the Universities speak to university programs. Is it ethical to churn out graduates when there are no jobs." is something that I have been concerned about for years. Counselors used to be in the same position, but the MHC programs here in Rochester and surrounding areas have become actively involved in collaborating with local organizations. CATs already working on the front line or looking for work don't have the time or financial freedom to develop the kind of collaborative relationships that generate jobs. Looking for work in any profession is a full-time job. Looking for work as a CAT that will provide the kind of income required to pay back loans often seems elusive. As someone who knows what it means to create positions, I can assure you that it is way too time consuming for an individual to take up the task in this ecoomy. The grad programs should be doing that. I have heard that Columbia, the DMT program in Chicago has done a great job of creating a need for their services. Someone should check into that. Maybe that is also true of some of the programs in NYC. If so, it would be great to hear about their methods for connecting. Programs that have left job creation to its graduates can then build on foundations that have already been laid.Yours in dance,Dani Fraenkel __________________________________________________le Fraenkel, Ph.D., BC-DMT, NCC, LCAT, LMHC, CGPDirector,Kinectionsat Imagine Square718 University AvenueRochester, NY 14607USATel: FAX: www.kinections.com [Attachment(s) from Cara Gallo included below] Dear CAT Community,Last Monday a group of approximately 14 met at Pratt Manhattan for our first meeting of CATS in the 99%!
