Thanks for the reply. i think i feel better if i took the 7-keto dhea as it does not inter fear with testosterone . the cortisol i would worry about osteoporosis. thanks again my thyroid peeps ----- Forwarded Message ----To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Sent: Fri, June 22, 2012 4:04:07 PMSubject: Re: Fw: Adrenals and phosphatidyl serine The 7-keto dhea is an active metabolite of DHEA and is very supportive of your thyroid and adrenals. Most importantly, it does NOT convert to any of the steroid hormones such as testosterone, progesterone or estrogens. 7-Keto DHEA is generally a very good option for those that want a normalized DHEA without any of the side effects of the straight DHEA. Since your DHEA is already high, you may not need as much of the 7-keto, but it may be much easier to get your other hormones in line since you don't have to worry abouPersonally, I like to change one thing at a time. It may well be that the high DHEA isn't causing any of your problems and that the cortisol could do the job since your morning level is fairly low. It would be interesting to see where your adrenals are throughout the day. While a lot of docs don't like the saliva tests for hormones, the ones for cortisol are generally the closest to being accurate. Note, that when you posted your labs, you did not include the ranges for progesterone, estradiol, so it's hard to know whether those are in a good range (note: that the ranges the labs use are often NOT what the better hormone doctors use - you have to keep in mind those are based on the averages in the population and do not necessarily have any relation to whether people feel well with hormones at those levels). For example, if you are post-menopausal and your estradiol level is in the ranges the labs specify for such, you likely aren't doing too well. The idea of replacing the hormones is to get them to the levels they were before menopause - e.g., midway through your cycle. If you think back to those days, you can often remember that there was generally a week or two when you felt your best - that's what we're trying to achieve. B. Hi ! was this to lower dhea or increese it. the Dr wants me to lower my dhea. it is at a 281.4 (35.4- 256.0) Thanks. ----- Forwarded Message ----To: Texas_Thyroid_Groups Sent: Fri, June 22, 2012 10:32:57 AMSubject: Re: Adrenals and phosphatidyl serine I noticed no difference whatsover when I took the PS. I do very well with the 7-keto form of dhea. I cannot take regular DHEA as for me it converts directly to testosterone and I turn into a very angry woman. If you are worried about the hydrocortisone, then you should start in smaller doses. I have been able to manage my adrenal issues with supplements, etc. as I was also a little afraid of taking the cortisol at first. If I needed it at this point, however, I would not hestitate to take it. You should search on "low dose cortisol" or "low dose hydrocortisone" to read other experiences and you can look up research in pubmed. It's been a very successful treat for CFS. B. I was wondering if taking Phosphatidyl serine (ps) would be better then the cortisol . i have read about it from another site. I am thinking it might be better then cortisol. i need to do something to help my dhea. Thanks
