Guest guest
Hi - my name is and I live in Frisco, I am so glad to have found this group and look forward to sharing information to help each other along the way! I am currently feeling stuck on my Armour dose of 2 grains. I had a partial thyroidectomy 11/10, then a total thyroidectomy 12/10. I had Hashi's and thyroid cancer. After my TT, did 1 grain Armour for about 4 weeks, then 1.5 for 7 weeks then 120 for 5 months. Was feeling great on the 2 grains and labs looked like this: TSH ..0189 (.45-4.5) FT4 1.04 (.82-1.77) FT3 6.2 (2.0-4.4) I was seeing Dr. Grebennikov in at the time and he said not to worry about the FT3 being high, as long as I was feeling good he was fine with it. (My labs at 7 weeks on 1.5 grains showed FT4 was below range, TSH 1.7 and FT3 was 3.0) He said 2 grains was my dose and he would see me in a year. Within a couple of months I started to feel slow, tired, and bad in general - my first instinct was I must need a raise again, however my labs showed TSH .03 (.45-4.5) FT4 1.03 (.82-1.77) FT3 4.3 (2.0-4.4). I was told NOT to raise. I continued to go downhill, and the Dr. would only let me lower not raise, so I went down to 1.5 grains - TERRIBLE mistake, ended up super hypo and over a period of weeks, got really bad, the whole ER run, etc... So back up at 2 grains and still struggling, I begged Dr. to let me try 2.5 grains, so he did, however, I then became hyper on 2.5 grains, and that was miserable, too. Tried the Synthroid equivalent of 2 grains armour over the holidays, (200 mcg) and ended up super hyper, FT3 was 14 before I realized what was happening, it was bad. And even worse I was not making much T3 on my own at all. I was told I could not be on Synthroid without Cytomel. So since the end of December I am back to 2 grains Armour just because it is the closest thing that has ever worked for me. Only problem is it just isn't working right now, I have come full circle! My labs on 2/14 on 2 grains Armour for 6 weeks: TSH .06 (.3-4.5) FT4 1.04 (.8-1.77) FT3 4.1 (2.3-4.4) Right now I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open much of the day, my hands, arms are numb when I wake up, my legs fall asleep easily when sitting, I am unpacking my larger sizes once again as I tend to gain weight in the abdomen esp. when hypo. The only thing I have noticed is when I felt good at 2 grains before, I was making a ton of T3, out of range. So now I am wondering if I not converting well anymore or am busy making RT3 instead. I have seen quite a few docs now, and everyone thinks I should be fine according to these labs, but I am not. I have done the adrenal saliva test, it was OK except for high a.m. cortisol, iron levels seemed OK as well, I can post all of this if needed. Those were done in Oct., I may have them repeated now. My RT3 ratio back then was 14.8. No doc I have seen will even acknowledge RT3 as a real problem. I have started taking 350 Milk Thistle from seed every night to help with this. Bought a GAIA thyroid support formula today with L-Tyrosine and Ashwagandha to try to help conversion/support adrenals- any advice? I have 15 mg Armour and have tried taking it - it made my heart beat faster, so I have not tried it again. Wondering if it is even worth cutting a 15 mg tab in half.....Thanks!
