Hi Suzanne,

Welcome home! So happy to hear that Danny is doing so well :-}

As I was reading your post I was thinking that an email from you to

might have a lot of bearing when they go to court simply, because

Danny is near the same age and has had the surgery and is apparently doing

GREAT! That is such wonderful news!!!

Well anyway, I thought I would mention it.

hugs,

Whenever I have a problem that involves computers and software, I go to this

chatroom at Talk City where all the computer nerds hang out and get good

answers right away. Try that. It's easy to find.

My idea in having this list was to help others with diabetes and be a

support for each other. I haven't seen anything that was to far off

base other than the request for computer aide. If someone can't use

their computer than they can't get the support and information they

need.

Was there another message I missed that was off the topic of diabetes???

I really watch the list and really haven't seen anything I felt was that

much off base. I'm a mother hen type and have been on quite a few lists

where " flaming " was almost a weekly occurance. I don't want that on

this list.

If there is a problem write me off list.

Is this list moderated? The number of postings is becoming very large for

the content involved. Replies to a specific person should NOT be posted to

the entire list. And questions NOT concerning DIABETES belong elsewhere!!

Please respect the list members time by posting general info regarding

diabetes on this list, anything else or private stuff TAKE IT ELSEWHERE!

But that is all a matter of definitions and/or degrees. It still was a

rather unhappy exchange by the standards I have seen here so far. I hope we

can lighten up is all I would suggest. I also don't want to give the

impression that I think it is all that serious. That is why I included the

little graphic smiley face =0). This is supposed to indicate levity of the

part of the writer. =0) Everything has been on the up and up until now =0) I

hope it stays that way =0)

Peace, Love, Have a Nice Day, and all that ind of good stuff, now.

Excuse me, but I take exception to your comments. ANY diabetes information is

helpful. Diabetes related replies should be on this board because there may

be more people out there who have the same question. We are all here to learn

from each other.

Suz,

What prompted this doctor to tell you you were " borderline " ? This is a

terrible misnomer. You are diabetic or you aren't. Were you pregnant at

the time? Gestational diabetes is a whole different thing.

Other than during pregnancy, either your body can handle sugars or it

can't... if it can't you are diabetic. Have you had your sugar levels

checked again? You can be diabetic for years and have no symptoms. If you

catch it early and control it you have much better luck at controlling

problems later on.

Hi, Maile. I've never heard of Cortef. I will ask my mother's doctor

about it because I want to get my mother off that horrible

Prednisone. From what I understand, it works because it inhibits

many metabolic functions preventing things like inflammation, but it

also inhibits necessary functions leading to all the terrible side

effects. Prednisone does not cure anything - a short-term fix and

long-term nightmare. I apologize that this post is more of a rant

than a contribution. Sorry about that. It's very frustrating for me.

It IS frustrating. Personally, in the end, I felt the

prednisone was making me physically weaker (and muscle

weakness is one of the many side effects!).

I have mixed connective tissue disease and PF with symptoms mimicking scleroderma and lupus and polymyositis. Have been taking prednisone for 4 years. Now taking cellcept for past 2years. I don't like taking so many drugs but right now I don't think I have a choice. I take meds for gastric reflux and esophagus damage too as well as raynaud's. I did have to adjust dosage on reglan due to side effects. Was taken twice the recommended dosage to increase effectiveness but could not tolerate. Never have taken cortef, dhea or msm (unless they are abbreviations I'm not familiar with). Have you been considered for lung transplant? Hello Hi, everyoneWas just told I have "extensive" PF, because ofInternal Scleroderma. My doctor prescribed Cortefbecause I refuse to take Prednisone (Was on Pred. formany years due to Polymyositis and it was terrible.)Has anyone else taken Cortef? What have been yourresults?I also take DHEA and MSM and plan to increase dosages.thanx,-Maile__________________________________________________

Maile,

I'm brand new to all this, and haven't taken anything. Was just recently diagnosed with IPF, and I'm still trying to plot a course of action. Godspeed and good luck.

Arlen,

Thanx for the encouragement. Let me know what plan you

decide upon, if you don't mind. I have more tests to

do so I don't know what's going on yet either.

Leanne,

Don't apologize for the rambling. My wife says I started that way before I came down with IPF. Yes, It's very hard to say "Goodbye" to 2 of our group, and it comes as a reality check to me, and I assume to others. My heart goes out to their families.

Dear everyone,

I sit here with tears welling up in my eyes. God bless you all. I

think it's safe to say that we are all feeling the sadness of two of

our own passing. It's tough. We have to resolve to FIGHT this

disease. Thank you all for the kindness and support that I know

that I've felt personally. Thanks also for sharing how you are

feeling. I know I put on the brave face too but inside I wonder is

it getting closer? How much time to I have? Am I being foolish

with the time I have? I want to see my babies have babies. Grandma

has a nice ring to it.

Thank God we have God and know that there is a reason somehow, some

way for all of this. He puts people in your life for a reason, and

I'm thankful.

I think I'm kind of rambling and I'm sorry. I just feel this deep

sadness. Thanks for being there and letting me share.
