Guest guest
It's funny you brought this subject up Joyce. One of the other groups I am a member of is a Messies Anonymous group, which probably tells all of you more about me than I originally meant to share. ;D Anyway, I was already fighting a losing battle somewhat with clutter before my husband Mike developed IPF. Now I am in the position of not only getting my own habits under control, but taking on what used to be Mike's share of the chores as well. Speaking as a spouse of someone with IPF, for those of you who are feeling guilty because you can't help more....DON'T!!! I admit at first the childish side of me sort of resented his lack of ability to help me....but then an amazing thing happened, I started to realize that I CAN do all those things that need to be done. I'm probably not going to get this to come across the way I want it to, and I apologize in advance if I offend anyone, but those of you who are finding yourselves losing the ability to do some things are actually in a way teaching your loved ones to be stronger people. I know I'm not really addressing exactly what Joyce asked, but I think it's important for you all to realize that we (the spouses/loved ones) are already so blessed to have you around for even one more day that the day-to-day chores and such don't really hold that much importance to us. Joyce, so what if your tables get dusty, or the Spring Cleaning doesn't get done the way you'd like it to...enjoy every moment you can with your husband! I don't think when ANY of us gets to Heaven our family left here on earth will be wishing we had left the house a little neater before we departed ... Well, that's just my 2 cents worth, hope it made sense to somebody... Later, Chris --- janne5303 wrote: > > Hi everyone, > > Just wondering?? > > Do you manage to keep housework done? Guest guest
I don't do housework, but there are lots of other things I like to do...wash the truck, mow the lawn...etc. My doctor put me on synthoid. He said as long as my blood pressure stays under control, the synthoid will be good to raise my energy level. Since I'm still working as well....I really think it helps.JImjanne5303 wrote: Hi everyone, Just wondering??Do you manage to keep housework done? What can you do and not do? Do you get outside help? He is also having to deal with outside now that Spring has sprung! Spring also means spring cleaning, which is not happening. Guest guest
Hi Barb, I'm new to the group. I thought I should probably find some sort of support group since there aren't a lot of people that get this disease. I'm trying to learn more about it. The standard stuff I read suggests that I get a will together in a hurry, but I'm not the give-up kinda guy. I am not on oxygen. I bought one of those oxygen measuring thingamagigs you put on your finger and my oxygen level stays about 90-93 unless I do something that requires a lot of exertion...like mowing the grass. I have a very small yard and I have to stop 2 or 3 times while doing it. It used to take me 30 minutes. Now it takes about 2 hours! My oxygen level drops to 85-88 but recovers after I rest for a while. Someone sent out a note on Market news on an oral form of therapy that has no side effects and might help me with this obnoxious cough. I called my Doctor and asked the nurse to see if he'd look into it for me. The coughing kills me. After the lung biopsy I had last July, my chest is still healing and coughing makes the healing process seem endless. I think I've had the disease for about 4 years now, but only got diagnosed this time last year. Before they thought it was either Asthma or Acid Reflux disease. Right.... I still work, but know my stamina on the job is waning and I need to do something soon, because if I don't work I don't get paid. I seem to be okay in the mornings after a resting all night and then feel worse as the day progresses. Oh, well at least I'm still here! Funny in a way...my wife has Lupus and some of the side effects of the medicine she was taking and the disease made me think I was going to lose her about 5 years ago...and here I am in this precarious state at the time she is in remission and feeling better. Hang in there Barb!!!JimBarbara Soice wrote: Gosh, Jim, that is wonderful that you are able to do so much. Are you on oxygen? Guest guest
Hey, Joyce: Housework, ugh... I don't seem to be able to sweep, vacuum, mop, do laundry, or clean the bathroom. God has blessed me with a very good friend, Deborah, who does these things for me. She pretty much takes care of my dogs and one cat too. Anything that has to do with bending, I just can't do. My oxygen level drops like mad and my heart races when I bend over.
