Guest guest
92Y DANCE THERAPY WEEKEND WORKSHOP DANCE IMPROVISATION AND EXPERIENTIAL FOCUSING Dr. Joan Lavender, Psy.D and Dr. Miriam Roskin Berger, BC-DMT, LCAT Eugene Gendlin's Experiential Focusing is a bodily-centered therapy process which gives you access to a deep level of self-knowledge. Moments of contact with this holistic realm (the experiential dimension) can guide and even transform the way you live your life. While most approaches to therapy agree that it is helpful to be more "in touch" with yourself, Focusing shows you how to do this. This workshop will explore the relationship between the experiential dimension and the world of movement and dance improvisation – the horizon of awareness. Participants will learn the crucial distinction between bodily felt sensing and emotion and the “raw poetry†that comes from fresh contact with the felt sense. We will explore concepts such as attunement, mutual regulation, improvisation and implicit communication through movement and focusing explorations. Focusing is a highly-regarded and well-researched process that has been shown to correlate with positive life change, enhanced self-esteem, and the experience of integration and wholeness. These skills enrich any form of creative process including psychotherapy. Eligible for ADTA CEs. Sat & Sun, Apr 14 & 15, 2012 1:30-6:30 pm $150 until Apr 7 / $175 after plus registration fee (save 50% on reg. fee when you register online) 92nd Street Y Harkness Dance Center 1395 Lexington Ave, NYC TO REGISTER: call or visit the 92Y Box Office in person Or cut and paste this link into your browser: http://www.92y.org/Uptown/Class/Dance-Improvisation.aspx 92nd Street Y ♦ School of the Arts ♦ Harkness Dance Center ♦ 1395 Lexington Ave at 92nd Street ♦ NY, NY 10128 92Y.org/Dance ♦ (P) ♦ (F)
