All methods of practice and/or work performance shall conform to written established hospital policies and procedures and be carried out to the highest achievable level of competence in a manner demonstrating concern and consideration. The Recreation Therapist provides individual and group therapy through the use of non-verbal media and verbal expressions. The Recreation Therapist utilizes the creative processes in his/her area of expertise (art, movement, dance music, recreation), to elicit non-verbal communication and expression. Range of services include, but are not limited to: Preventive services, diagnostic evaluation, assessment and treatment using creative arts therapy techniques and process. Translates the treatment goals of the interdisciplinary team into creative arts methodology Requirements: Masters in Creative Therapy preferred, BS degree required with a defined course of study addressing assessment and treatment for persons with mental illness.The Recreation Therapist will be licensed or credentialed by the appropriate association or licensure or credentialing board, as applicable and except as approved by Department waiver pursuant to N.J.A.C. 10:37G-2.9. Rehabilitation/creative arts therapists may include, but need not be limited to, rehabilitation specialists, and art, music, dance/movement, drama, occupational, and recreation therapists.
