Guest guest
Kay, There is a moderate risk of interaction according to this website: http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check You can type in your meds and then check for drug interactions. When I added yours just now, it came back with this: Interactions between your selected drugs prednisone & #8596; triamterene Applies to: prednisone, triamterene MONITOR: Corticosteroids may antagonize the effects of antihypertensive medications by causing sodium and fluid retention. These effects may be more common with the natural corticosteroids (cortisone, hydrocortisone) because they have greater mineralocorticoid activity. In addition, some calcium channel blockers such as diltiazem and verapamil may increase corticosteroid plasma levels and effects by inhibiting their clearance via CYP450 3A4 metabolism. MANAGEMENT: Patients on prolonged (i.e., longer than about a week) or high-dose corticosteroid therapy should have blood pressure, electrolyte levels, and body weight monitored regularly, and be observed for the development of edema and congestive heart failure. The dosages of antihypertensive medications may require adjustment. Other drugs that your selected drugs interact with * prednisone interacts with more than 300 other drugs. * triamterene interacts with more than 200 other drugs. Interactions between your selected drugs and food No results found - however, this does not necessarily mean no interactions exist. ALWAYS consult with your doctor or pharmacist. Guest guest
I don't know but if you go to http://www.drugs.com/drug_interactions.html it will allow you to enter all of your drugs and tell you if there is any adverse reactions. Guest guest
With any diuretic you need to be REALLY careful of an electrlyte imbalance. Particularly low potassium. Prednisone greatly increases your risk of hypokalemia (Low potassium) I have been hospitalized several times for critically low potassium and a boat load of other issues because of it.
