Guest guest
Dear Burt, > with sugar readings in the 80 to 100 and i know that good according to the It's great to hear you're watching what you eat and keeping your Bg in the 80-100 range. I don't think I'd be able to help myself if I were surrounded by candy. I'd probably cheat!! -moderator > _______________________________________________________ > Get your free, private email at http://mail.excite.com/ > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > How many communities do you think join ONElist each week? > http://www.onelist.com > More than 5,000! Guest guest
Hi, Your posting really hit home with me. I was diagnosed with type ll last november. Even now sometimes it doesnt seem real. Two weeks ago my bg was 91 then for no apparent reason it jumped to 208. People keep saying hang in there and i know they are right--but its hard to deal with a somewhat silent disease. Take care
Guest guest
Thanks, for welcoming me. I am new to this and so is my daughter, she is only 13. but I know that we will handle this together, I'll always be by her side and I will help her as much as possible. I am looking for a teen support group for her. If you or anyone have any suggestions please email me the info. I live in New Jersey.
Guest guest
- I was diagnosed about 1 1/2 yrs ago and I know what you mean. I felt that way for a long while. Then I decided the only way I was going to help myself was to take charge of this! I got a meter and tested tested tested. I discovered that after eating a baked potato, or a plate of pasta, or rice my bg's zoomed up into the atmosphere! I now follow Atkins low carb diet and my bg's are 95 - 125 consistantly. That is no potatoes, no pasta, no rice, no bread. All the meat I want, cream cheese, sour cream, heavy cream, butter (no margarine) and other veggies. Dr Atkins is a cardiologist - to understand why this doesn't hurt your heart - read his book. The diet was created to help his heart patients - wt loss was only a side effect! Guest guest
hi mike, one reason your bs may be up and you do not know why is because of toxins that you have been esposed to. i have mcs ( many of do without knowing) and my bs would go from 100- over 300 in a short time without eating anything. i went nuts trying to figure out what was going on. anyhow you do not have to have chemical senstivity to have this happen to you. if you are breathing, or putting something on your body it can happen. we are all being expose to chemicals daily . i do not use any chemicals around my house, but of course when i go out there they are. just an idea for you. take care ellen

Guest guest
Mike, I did the same thing, being diagnosed at 21. I tried to do everything I was supposed to for a little while, but I got frustrated and gave up until I ended up really sick also. It was a wake-up call, and am seeing a new healthcare team. They made adjustments to the kind of insulin I'm on, when I take it, and gave me better tips on giving shots and fingerpricks . Every doctor I have seen, comments on how sensitive my body is to the insulin, to infections, stress, etc. It doesn't take much insulin to bring me down, and it doesn't take much for anything to get me out of control either!! The one thing that nobody has been able to figure out yet, is why I continue to retain water. It's been a year now, and no answer yet. My thyroid, kidney, and hemoglobin tests all came back good. Some water retention is normal when you first go on insulin, but it should go away within at least a couple of months. I'm trying not to get bent out of shape about the water retention and just focus on keeping my blood sugars in line and hope that the problem will eventually go away! Guest guest
Thanks for the encouragement. It helps to know you're not alone. Many members in my family have this disease (quite a few died from complications) so this disease really scares me. One problem I have experienced is constant hunger-this I truly do not understand. However, step by step I am trying to take control. I am walking more-even purchased a bike. Ive heard about the Atkins Diet but my doctor and nutritionalists warned me not to use, On the other hand I have several friends who are diabetic-went on the diet-and now have control and even lost weight. It nothing else I have to say this is truly a confusing condition-oh well Again, thanks

Guest guest
Are you a type II diabetic? If your cells are resistant to insulin, you have too much floating around in your system not being used and it makes you hungry.
