Training Seminar in Photo Therapy: Exploring the Therapeutic Uses of Photography

This workshop will combine a brief lecture/overview of the history of photo therapy, followed by a discussion of the application of various photographic modalities that will include both earlier forms of film and more current digital formats. A description of photo therapy training on the graduate level will be presented and participants will then be led through an experiential exercise that will enable them to explore some of these training processes. The application of digital photographic technology will be demonstrated as part of the processing of the experiential material. Participants are encouraged to bring in photographs of themselves, family, friends, and places, as these will be used during the experiential exercise.
