FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Why should I serve on the Tri-State Chapter Board? Serving on the board is a great way to stay connected to the Drama Therapy community. As a board member, you have the opportunity to create workshops, conferences and meetings about topics that most interest you. You are in a unique position to identify needs within the Tri-State Chapter community, and create programs or events to meet those needs. What is the time commitment? The term of office is two years. Since the board is made up of volunteers, each board decides as a group what they want to accomplish. In the past, the board has planned workshops and meetings for about 7-8 months of the year, with summers off. Is there any requirement to be on the board? No. The board welcomes current students and recent graduates from all programs including alternative track training, and Drama Therapists in all stages of their professional development. According to the by-laws, at least one member of the board should be a Registered Drama Therapist (RDT). Persons nominated for the office of President must have served at least one term as an Officer of the Chapter within the past five years. How do I know if I am nominated? Will I automatically be on the ballot? If you are nominated for a position, you will be contacted by a member of the current Tri-State Chapter board. You can accept or decline the nomination. Your name will be on the ballot only if you accept the nomination. What if I want to be on the board but am nominated for a position I don't want?If you are interested in serving on the board, please nominate yourself for the position you want. Don't be shy. The board needs you! How do I get more information?Come to the Open Board Meeting on Thursday, October 20 (see information above). If you are unable to come, please email us at tristatechapter@....
