Guest guest
Dear NYSADTA Chapter Members, Our Chapter needs people to serve on the Board of Directors for the 2011-2014 term. No prior experience is necessary, just a positive attitude, a willingness to serve our DMT community, and the public at large, by promoting our profession. The only criterion is that you need to be a dues paying member of the ADTA, our chapter and maintain these for the duration of your position. For a description of the positions and responsibilities please go to http://www.nysadta.org/legal/by-laws.html and read Article VI of the by-laws. Elections will be held at the beginning of September. Benefits of serving on the board include: Networking opportunities Building a support system of colleagues Helping steer the direction of the Chapter Increasing public awareness of DMT Attending chapter workshops for free Gaining CE credits from the ADTA for every year served Board accomplishments to date: Completion of the Moving Stories DVD (we won a n Chace Grant for this project) Winning the ADTA service award in 2008 Producing 4 Dance concerts of choreography by dance/movement therapists Ongoing Activities: Maintaining NYSADTA website (which is now being overhauled) Yearly providing 2-3 continuing education opportunities Newsletter Promoting public awareness of DMT Facilitating communication amongst the largest population of dance/movement therapists in the USA Organizing a yearly dance concert If you are interested in running please email me at dnpassman@... by August 11 with a short bio (150 words max) including the position you'd like to run for and a statement about why you'd like to be elected. If you cannot commit to a position at this time please think of a colleague who may be interested and encourage him or her to run. Don't worry if you can't be a part of the board now, you can get involved by signing up for one of our committees in the fall.
