I was introduced to his music by my first female friend and first real romantic interest (not that I knew what to do about a romantic interest at age 16), a down-home West Virginia girl from a large family (who went on to get degrees from Princeton and Stanford and now is a professor at a Big Ten University!). I have almost all his original albums (I mostly ignore the compliations that have come out since his death), and like some of his songs a lot, some less so. At the fifth anniversary of his death, I led a service called " The Truth of the Song " about JD at my Unitarian-Universalist church. He was a poet, activist, amateur astronomer, and basically good guy. Recently I've become somewhat (or maybe more than somewhat) obsessed with young classical violinist Hahn, who is now my first " favorite living musician " since JD went and flew his plane after quaffing a few too many.
