Guest guest
Our Texas Armour Docs list may be found in "Files" on our site. You can also read our Database for doc recommendations and non-recommendations. There is no DFW endo that I recommend for hashi/hypo patients. Launius in ville and Marcus Spurlock in Dallas come highly recommended. You may be sensitive to the fillers. You will probably have the same stomach problems with Armour. I suggest that you look into compounded thyroid meds. >> I was diagnosed with Hashi's in December. I began taking 100mcg of Synthroid, which brought my levels too high. I am now on 75mcg daily. While the Synthroid has improved my energy level, since my treatment began, I have been experiencing grossly dramatic stomach growth and feel bloated all the time. It is VERY frustrating as I have never carried weight in my stomach. I weigh about 12 pounds less than I did this time last year, but my stomach is significantly larger (and this time last year I was 3 month postpardum!)> > When my Endo lowered my Synthroid to 75mcg, I requested that I try Armour (since I have heard better things about Armour), she said that she does not recommend Armour since it does not mimic human hormone as well as Synthroid, but we could wait another 6 weeks and may need to consider adding a synthetic T3 to my mix. I have an appointment this week and I am once again going to try to convince her to switch me to Armour. I am praying she makes the switch, or I will have to find a new doc.> > Can anyone recommend any Armour friendly docs in Fort Worth area?>
Guest guest
Dr. Launius has very reasonable fees. I will shoot an email asking for current rates. -- In Texas_Thyroid_Groups , "" wrote:>-> Thanks for the support and input. I have to say this is the most frustrating situation. Guest guest
He is indeed extremely reasonable. Also, your net out of pocket expenses will be less when you go to a clueful doctor if you consider your co-pay is a total waste when you go to a doc that won't help you. I don't think we've ever paid over $100 (I'm recalling it was around 80ish or less) to see Dr. L (we use him as a PCP) when we've seen him over the past year. So, if your insurance pays 80%, that's $16.00 out of pocket. The only doctor I go to that's in network for me is my GYN for annual well woman checkups which cost me nothing out of pocket (and I really don't have any issues she needs to treat). She would right my Rxes for hormones (based on what I'm currently taking), but unfortunately she has little experience with bio-identical replacement hormones, so I still need a clueful doctor for that. In my experience, the good docs are well worth the money - I live in a small house and drive a compact car so that I can experience a high quality of life because my health issues are being adequately addressed.
