Hello all,

I am a child psychologist with special interest and training in autism spectrum

disorders. I have just relocated to the North Houston area and have two private

practice locations, one in The Woodlands and one in Cypress.

I have been learning a lot from the postings in this group and am pleased to see

that Texas has such an active parent and professional autism community. I am

curious to know what people see as areas of need in North Houston that I may be

of service with. Is there a need for good diagnostic assessments or social

skills groups? Or a need for parent or sibling support groups? Help with school

advocacy? Support for kids with feeding challenges?

I'd be happy to have any suggestions or recommendations for educating myself as

I get familiar with Texas.

I have training in DIR/Floortime and really find this approach extremely

beneficial for many children and families. I also have extensive training in ASD

diagnostic assessments using the ADOS. It would be wonderful if my information

could be passed along to individuals who need those kind of services.

I appreciate the opportunity to be part of such a strong and dedicated group.

I agree the location is a big issue. I can't speak for the entire spectrum, but

for the upper end of the spectrum (where my child is at), most autism services

seem to be southwest/west (Houston). There is dire need for quality services

here in The Woodlands. You will have more competition in the Cypress area.

A big problem will be getting the word out.
